Entering my name and email address at the offer landing page added the downloadable resource to my account. I assume that if you don't already have an account, you'll be asked to create one. I then had to login to my Ligonier account to download the file.

The download is a zip file that unpacks to 107 MP3 files and a PDF of the CD liner notes.

I'm on their mailing list, but hadn't checked my email today. They may have emailed me about it. Anyway, I went ahead and downloaded it.

If you sign up for the item, they will place the item in your "Ligonier Learning Library," and notify you by the email address that you provided. If you don't have an account yet, they will set up one for you with a temporary account password.

It seems like Ligonier has been doing more giveaways lately. And near-giveaways. If you get on their mailing list, they will send you offers for some pretty good stuff "for any size donation." Honestly, I'm not trying to be a Scrooge--I felt it to be out of necessity--but a couple of times I sent $1 and still got the material. This is holding true for physical material, too. Most recently, they offered two copies of R.C. Sproul's physical-book commentary on John for "any size donation." It is highly-rated at Amazon, and runs, I think $9.99 for the Kindle, I think that it is.

You've probably already surmised this, but Ligonier does have a bias, and subscribes to a certain set of beliefs. Broadly speaking, they are in the "Reformed Movement," which, among other things is heavily Calvinistic.

Judaism and Christianity are related, so there is a great interest in Judaism among those who profess to be Christians. And there are probably far more MobileReaders who profess Christianity than those who are Jews. That's the reason that I'm posting this book on the Christian Interest thread, even though it is a book about Judaism.

For me to post a book, it has to have very good, at least, ratings and have a big markdown on it. I'm posting this book because it has both of those and, on top of that, it is massive--804 pages--too! At $1.99 (15% of the digital list price), this book has fantastic bang for the buck, punch for the pound, and kick for the kruggerand!

This ebook is the #2 seller in the "Jewish Life" category at the Amazon Kindle store.

I noticed that there were a lot of books about the Reformation being featured on various sites, and floating around on the markdown lists. I couldn't find anything that said why, though. Then, finally, I saw a snippet that said that October 31 was the 499th anniversary of Martin Luther's nailing of the 95 theses on the Wittenburg castle/church door! That explains it.

Anyway, in honor of the occasion, Crossway is offering a "free" copy of The Reformation: How a Monk anda Mallet Changed the World, by Stephen J. Nichols. You can get it in any or all three of our favorite flavors--PDF, ePub, and mobi.

The catch is that you've got to fill out a short survey. And, folks, this one is really short. I think that anyone could complete it in less than 5 minutes.

This is a valuable book. Amazon is currently selling the Kindle (mobi) edition for $9.79. And the book is rated 4.5 stars there. I bought the ebook some time back, when it was on sale for $2.99, and thought that I had gotten a good deal. (I'm not a complete sucker, though--I used this opportunity to get the PDF and ePub, also).

Doing a little quick math . . . . If the book is worth $9.79 and it (for some unimaginable reason) took you 5 minutes to complete the survey and everything, that's like making $58.74 per hour. I could live off of that.

I had to fight with their survey a skosh -- I get all my news from social media (well, and radio and internet pages for the network news, but I forgot those and said "all social media"). So they gave me a list of types of social media and asked for a 1-5 ranking on how much I used each. I wanted one 5 and the rest all at 0 (or 1, since there was no 0). It wouldn't let me repeat a number! And I couldn't unclick to make NO choice, once I had already clicked. I wound up ranking things 1-3-4-5 and one with no selection. THAT way each was unique, and it would let me continue. But it wasn't *true*.

Oh well. Programmer's fault!

Unless you are averse to being on any more email mailing lists, however, I recommend that you stay signed up--they have quite a few good offers through the year. And those offers don't always get mentioned on MobileRead.

I haven't done this kind of post in quite a while. Truth to tell, I probably got out of the mood. I don't know if this post signals a resurgence in my interest in doing these or not. I do have a backlog of this kind of free ebooks that would be nice to post.

This freebie looks to be a solid, substantive resource. Thanks go to The Commission on Worship of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and Concordia Publishing House for providing it.

It is only 35 pages long, but the material in it is tightly packed in. It is chock-full of information. Keep in mind that with it being produced by a denomination, it will likely take sectarian positions at points, and you will need to wade through some denominational language here and there.

If you would like what seems to be something like a "CliffNotes" for the below booklet, a Summary of Analysis of Comparative Study of Bible Translations is offered, also. Here is the direct link to it. I believe that it is a legal free download for the same reasons that I give for the booklet, in the "comments" section below.

It's good work, when you can get it. (an old Southern saying).

There are books and websites that claim that you actually can make (real) money taking surveys.
