I've got a couple more great free classical pieces for you.

Frankly, I'm having trouble figuring out who has performed them. It appears to be an orchestra in Vienna. What little that I think that I understand is that their usual venue is in an orangery ("a room or a dedicated building on the grounds of fashionable residences from the 17th to the 19th centuries . . . . (Wikipedia)) at the Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna. The Palace is a former imperial summer residence, located in Vienna.

The free pieces are by composers Johann Strauss Vater and Johann Strauss. The piece by Vater is Radetzky Marsch - Op. 228, which runs 2 minutes and 29 seconds. I can't say that I ever remember hearing anything about this composition, but it sounds beautiful. The piece by Strauss is Walzer "An der schonen blauen Donau" - Op. 314, a 9 minute, 58 minute piece, that sounds familiar even to my uncultured ears.

Here's the webpage to go to if you want to download either or both of the above pieces. Both of them are available in MP3 only. You can save the files on your default drive for your desktop or laptop computer, or save them to a portable MP3 player.

I don't know yet how often this website changes the free downloads that they make available, but I'll plan to monitor the website frequently until I can figure out how they do things.

Today's freebie from YourClassical comes from Ireland RTE National Symphony Orchestra, with Jean-Luc Tingaud as conductor.

It is a Paul Dukas piece, from the Naxos album Dukas - Symphony in C: The Sorcerer's Apprentice, La peri. We are offered the 10 minute, 50 second piece, The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

There is a dedicated webpage for the Naxos album here. Once you've got all of the information that you need that you have decided to download the free piece, head over to this webpage, locate the link that says, "Direct MP3 download link," and click on it. That will download the file for the free piece directly to your hard drive (or whatever your default drive is).

I don't recall ever hearing a Paul Dukas work before, but this is a nice piece. It is one of the high-low pieces (high volume, then low volume, then high volume . . . .), however, that I find it hard to just sit and enjoy listening to while doing something else. YMMV.

Well, I'll be. They removed it. This is why I copy everything in these offers.

Hit the spoiler and you'll see the exact terms of the offer. The part in the main body of my post in quotes is what was on the page I linked to.

Use that info if you contact Amazon again.

In the meantime, just follow the steps I outlined and upload some photos. I've been doing that. The coupons won't get sent out until after 03 Nov.

I did read the terms you provided, but since it says to use the link in the offer to upload the photos, I was stymied.

The rep was terrible. I said the offer had been cited in multiple deals forums, and she interpreted that as meaning it wasn't Amazon's offer and I should contact the other sites. Couldn't get her to understand that it was Amazon's offer.

P.S. I'm on hold with Amazon again. This rep at least seems to understand the issue, says this is the first call she's gotten about the promo, is trying to get info from another department. Makes no sense to me. Clearly someone took down the offer too early, without even substituting a "sorry! offer ended" on the page, which would be annoying, but at least then I wouldn't be wasting all this time.

Oh they understand, all right. But once the offer is down, they won't assist anyone in getting the offer. I clicked through this morning to see if I should blog it again and it was already gone. They may have decided enough people clicked. I've seen some of their other offers disappear on the early side.

For those of you who download some free pieces from Naxos albums from YourClassical and other sources, you might be interested in this.

For the YourClassical pieces, at least, I've been giving the URL for the dedicated webpage at Naxos for the album. However, those pages do not give you any reviews of the albums (often I will give you a short review, but they're not very insightful), just the hard facts. However, I found out that there is a webpage of reviews for each album at Naxos. Here, for example, is the one for the album from which today's free piece comes.

Granted, it's not as easy to get the information that you want for a particular piece on an album as if there were a webpage dedicated to each piece individually. But some of you may not mind scanning over the reviews; some of you may find it helpful to use your browser's "find" feature (activated by the Ctrl + F combination in Chrome) to find information in the reviews about the specific piece being given away.

I'm going to commit to posting the reviews webpage address for each album at Naxos from which each freebie is derived. Hope you find the additional information on those webpages helpful in understanding and appreciating each piece.

I just got off the phone with Amazon. Long story short, I was told to just upload the photos from the Prime Photos website and they would qualify for the promo. No explanation given as to why the page was taken down early.

After two lengthy times on hold, which included being disconnected twice, I requested a call back from Amazon, which still hasn't happened, more than two hours later. I did upload a photo through the site, so we'll see what happens.

The first rep really didn't understand. She got it into her head that it wasn't an Amazon promo, and once the idea was there, it wouldn't be dislodged. Even her follow-up e-mail told me to contact a non-Amazon site.

If they'd said at the link that their limit on the offer had been reached, I would've been fine with it. Now I want the damn offer or some other compensation for all the time I wasted on this.
