Allowing customers to upload personal documents to their cloud was probably created to encourage people to switch to Amazon's service from their competitors. I suspect that they regret introducing that feature now that they are the largest e-book seller and they want to discourage its use by avoiding making any enhancements to it.

Cover thumbnails are not available for personal documents in many cases. They are not converted to KFX. And the new online collection manager ignores them.

I'm exactly the kind of customer they wanted to attract, but probably now regret attracting. i have about 600 personal document ebooks in the Amazon Cloud. All my ebooks do have cover thumbnails btw .

I'm starting to buy more from Amazon now due to Whispersync and their competitive prices but tbh it wouldn't surprise me if one day they stopped all personal document services in the cloud. Hopefully if that happens they might just stop new uploads and let me keep what's already there.

It all averages out. I don't use Amazon's Cloud storage at all.

Even if they are the largest e-book seller, nothing stops me to move to a different platform without any particular issue... As long as I can convert very easily all ebooks I bought on Amazon to ePub! It is not even a conversion... it's just a matter of uncompressing the azw3!

All bad signs... I chose Kindle because I could treat all books bought elsewhere almost as books bought from Amazon. Now that it is getting harder if not impossible I think I'll move to something else

Our account buys a fair number of ebooks from Amazon anyway as hubby gets all his ebooks from Amazon, nowhere else. Although most of his are free or 99p, he doesn't pay much for his books.

Every ebook I buy from elsewhere goes to Amazon, even if it sits in the cloud until I read it. I have a lot of series collections but I only keep the next one to read on my Voyage, any further on ones stay in the Amazon cloud, that way they are there when I need them.

This is not an opinion and does not contradict what you are saying.
Then the fact that I don't like the approach is an opinion.
I just sent a document to my Kindle using the Send to Kindle app. I changed both the title and the author in the app, and when it got to my Kindle, it showed the changed title and author. I'm not sure why it's not working for you, but it definitely is working for me and others.

My kindle updated to the 5.8.5.0.1, and now when I transfer my books again, the covers are coming back
Can someone confirm that too?

Surprised Amazon hasn't pushed out the Ember font to other devices yet. It's been 6 months since the Oasis has been out.

I wanted this font. It's a pity.

Why? You can embed any font into a MOBI file.

I guess I never noticed this because I only use the send to kindle app for things like articles and work documents that aren't in .mobi format to start with. For actual books, I always use Calibre and email it directly from Calibre.

You can embed fonts into a KF8 file, but not an "old" MOBI7-format file.

What do you do exactly? Does calibre convert the file, even if already mobi when you send it?
