Must be hell on you guys when you have car troubles and stop by the side of the road to call your own version of Roadside Assistance. I can see me trying to explain THAT one, now:

"Oh, sweetie, the left rear tire blew, and I managed to make it to the side of the road, but when I called TripleA to come and fix it, I was cited by the Troopers, and now I have to go to court."

Yeeesh.

(P.S.: I confess, I thoroughly disapprove of idiots driving/talking. I see it all the time here, with people driving as though they are DRUNK. It's appalling. But the side of the road? Seems a bit harsh.)

I don't know if it's allowed for a bus driver to use their phone when pulled over at a bus stop or not. Even if it's allowed though, I think your phone usage shouldn't get in the way of your work. Yeah, I confess. I sometimes answer a message during work. Sometimes I even waste 10 minutes running through the new posts on MobileRead and make a reply.

The difference is that I still get my stuff done in time (and I *never* take smoke breaks, as I don't smoke), while the bus driver is late. Sometimes, the connection only gives you 2-3 minutes to get from one bus to another, and that is including any delays.

If it's busy and the roads/traffic are bad enough to make me miss the connection, then that's perfectly understandable. If I miss the connection because the driver lost 5-6 minutes by reading/writing whatsapp messages, and I thus have to wait 27 minutes, then I'm pissed. My travel times are more than long enough as they are; mostly 3-5 times the time a car would take.

Oh, that is not a problem at all. When you have car trouble you are obliged to leave the car and go to a safe place. This to prevent injury in case someone overlooks your stranded car and hits it. Since you are no longer in the vehicle, you can call.
Also, of course you are allowed to call someone hands-free in the car. As long as you do not to handle your phone manually.

As it is also not allowed at red lights or traffic jams, I would think it is not allowed. It would be allowed if he is parked.

For years I've used a prepaid credit card. But Europe decided to change the rules, to prevent criminals from using these types of cards, and now I have to get a new one. There are various options but I want one where I get an actual card, for that you have to prove you live and the address you say you live at. You have to send in a copy of, for instance, a bank statement, a utility bill, a letter stating you get certain benefits. The only problem is that either those bills aren't in my name or I get them digitally and the CC company doesn't accept screenshots or a picture of a downloaded and photographed statement (I tried both).

The only thing I can think of is getting a copy of my council registration, but that isn't listed as an option. I emailed to ask if that would be accepted, I don't see why not but you never know.

Has anyone ever had the font size for pages viewed in a browser spontaneously change? Last night I turned my computer off normally. When I turned it on this morning and opened Google Chrome browser one of the first things I noticed was that the list of saved web sites just above the content window had changed. All still there but more in the list to be viewed by clicking on the >> at the right. That's no big deal. But now certain, but not all, web pages the text font is much bigger. Big enough to result in a scroll bar at page bottom that was never there in the past. I swear I did not change anything in the browser setting, or in the computer screen settings to make this happen. Would like to set things back to the way it was before though.

Same here.
I think it's part of Google's material design. Seems to need about 20% more space, requiring more up/down and sideways scrolling.
Temporary fix maybe chrome://flags/#top-chrome-md

Frustrated that I'm in a crafty mood, but I can't do much. I'm a noisy crafter; printing, cutting with my electronic machine, walking around and preferably have either some music on or a video.

But it's 11.30pm. Normally not a problem, but my sister, whose room is below my "work room" went to bed early, tired after a weekend and Monday full of hard work on her apartment. So I can't make any noise. It seems that lately my creative moods come at times when I have to be quiet, which is incredibly frustrating.

Funny you mention crocheting. I've been planning on making my own fingerless gloves. I've got yarn (various colours) and the right size needle, I just haven't started yet. I can only do the most basic of crocheting and knitting, and to me it's a thing I do when watching tv. Right now my mind in on Christmas cards.

After cutting two stacks of paper I've moved up a 12" guillotine trimmer on my wishlist for next week's craft fair. It's noisier, but it's a lot easier to cut thicker paper on it than with a sliding blade trimmer.

It's one of the reasons why I opted for a really high-end digital piano instead of a (used) upright or even baby grand... I often get the urge to do some practicing around 23:00 before I go to bed.

Maybe the acoustic will come some time, or maybe never. Tuning, maintenance, humidity/heat control... njeergh... digitals don't need any of that, and the very best of them are as good as the lower to mid-end uprights nowadays.

Actually happy to hear it's not just me. I was worried that it might be a side effect of one of the new virus attacks that have been in the news.
