The uneven light of kindle voyage.

Hi guys.

I got a 2nd hand voyage this morning. It looks perfectly new to me. But when I started setting up the account and everything, I notice that the color of light is not even. The light at the bottom is whiter and the top is a bit brownish.
I just wonder is it normal to Voyage?

It's not unusual. Some devices have more of a gradient than others, and some people are more sensitive to any gradient than others.

Personally, unless I'm actually in the dark, if I can tell that the light is on I think I have it up too high.

Yes, it's quite normal. Not all Voyages are like that, but many are (including mine).

Would it be getting worse? Since I got the idea of color difference, it distracts me from my reading. Don't you have the same situation?

Since I can't return it, I will live with it.

I suspect it may be one of those things where it becomes more obvious once you have noticed it. I don't think that the display or lights change over short periods of time.

I recommend setting the light to where you can just notice that it's on, and then take it down a notch.

My husband just got a Voyage as well, we compared screens and there was a slight color difference. His had a very slight tan tint to it compared to mine. I do notice color gradients, on my fire hdx 7 tablet , it had a slightly yellow tint to the screen. I found out that was how they were made to ease eye strain. I thought it would bother me, but it didn't, I stopped noticing the yellow tint as my eyes adjusted. I see it when I turn on the device, but after a few minuets of reading I stopped seeing it. Same for my husband's voyage, the tint disappeared after his eyes adjusted to it. I read on it for a bit and my eyes adjusted and I didn't notice it. I think this latest batch has a more brownish or tan tint to the screen. However if you adjust the light to it being less noticeable that may help. If you can't return it.

No, it won't get worse. I don't read in a dark room, so I never see it while reading. I guess it would bother me if I read in the dark. But I would probably not return it, since many (perhaps even most) Voyages have this problem.

Probably I will use my Kobo H2O at home since it is too heavy to read while standing. And take voyage out with me. Reading voyage also make me look cooler as well.

Maybe I was lucky but I have never had a issue with my voyage and the lighting. I never have my light setting above 15 and normally leave it at 10. And the light seems to be even as you can expect from any electronic device.

My Voyage has it too. I use a warm toned kobo at home and my Voyage lives in my handbag. Using it out and about means I rarely notice the uneven tint as daylight washes it out.

Also if you let the adaptive light work you will find it less noticeable too, just let the light adjust as the device thinks fit. If you adjust it for the first few days, if it's not quite at the level you want, the auto adjust will learn your preferences and soon you won't need to adjust it.

I don't know if I would call it normal, but it probably affects most if not all Voyages to some degree and some people are more sensitive to it than others. It took me 4 tries to get a Voyage that I am happy with. Mine has the slight unevenness going from top to bottom which is hardly noticeable in most light settings and at this point I don't even see it unless I'm looking for it.
