Mine is an iPhone 5, online as it is my only phone -- and it is happily nagging me. Dunno about my iPad mini, as I haven't used it lately. The iPad Air (?) or 2 or something, is not nagging me any more, so that's a help.

I'm sure my iPhone 5 would be nagging me if I let it phone home. I kept it as a backup but rarely even turn it on except to occasionally check that it still works. When I do turn it ON, I keep it in Airplane mode. It doesn't have a SIM card installed, so no cellular connection either.

If you want to stop the nagging then see this:

https://writekay.github.io/Disable-OTA/

Changing the profile like it suggests does seem to work and is easy.

Hmmm. Looks rather complicated. At the least, however, the very last line is useful:

If you didn’t follow through this guide and don’t mind the nagging and badged Settings icon, keep in mind when iOS prompts you to update, you should choose “Details” rather than “Later”. This is because Apple treats “Later” literally - meaning it will automatically update during midnight.

I didn't know that "Details" was a better choice!

In the end, I have updated to iOS10 on both my 6S and Air2. I don't hate the current version as much as I hated the first release. Coming to terms with the new method for opening devices. I'm leaving my 5S on 9.3.5 for now. Why did I update? Bought a new Series 1 Apple watch, and it forced me to update because without it I could not install the watch app. Oh well. One makes one's choices.

I'm probably going to upgrade over the weekend. I'm experiencing significant battery drain with 9.3.5 on my iPhone 6S that has become too annoying.

I'll probably update my iPhone 6 Plus in a few days. I waited to make sure there wasn't any really bad bugs or what not. I'm not impressed with iOS 10, but I don't have anything against it either. My iPhone 6 Plus has plenty of power and memory space, so I'm not concerned about slowing down the system. Once updated, at least I want be constantly annoyed by the Apple ghosts to update! However, I will not be updating my older devices. My iPad Mini 2 is already kind of slow with iOS 9.3.5, so I don't won't to slow it down any more. And it only has 16 GB of memory and with only about 2 GB free.

I've got two iPads, a pro 9.7 and a mini 4, two iPhones, a 6S+ and a 6S, plus a Mac and iTunes to update. Two of us, but I do it all. I'm being made redundant at the end of November so I'll do them gradually either in December or January. I can't deal with any issues while I'm still at work.

I'm not naive enough to think at least one device won't muck up, which means iTunes has to be done first

I always selected "later" but then made sure my iPad wasn't connected to the mains overnight as it said it would only update if it was connected to the mains. Since I deleted the actual download update I've not been nagged at all.

LOL! I just went into the System menu to tell it to install iOS 10. It had to spin it's little wheel around for several seconds to see if any updates were available! Yeah, right, like it hasn't been annoying me for weeks about iOS 10.

Updated my iPhone 6 Plus to iOS 10.0.2 last night. Mostly okay, but I hate that darn Voice Control and I cannot seem to turn it off. I keep Siri turned OFF as I don't use that much and it is a battery drain. With Siri turned OFF on iOS 9.3.5 I was never annoyed by Voice Control. But apparently Apple, in its infinite stupidity, decided to make another annoying feature that you have to live with whether you like it or not.

Voice Control is annoying to me because it screws up the way I turn on my iPhone. It is also annoying because it makes taking screen captures more difficult. (You now have to be more careful and make sure to first press the Off button before pressing the Home button, otherwise that darn Voice Control displays and then you have to go through hoops to get back to where you were.)

Do you know you can disabled the "Press Home to Unlock" requirement?

If you want to go further, try these instructions:

Thanks!

Unfortunately the first method simply doesn't work for me. I have an iPhone 6 Plus with the fingerprint reading Home button, and I like having the ability to hold my thumb over the Home button then have the iPhone turn on without having to enter the passcode. With method 1 you are only allowing the touch passcode but not deactivating the Voice Control feature. The result is that if I do the touch for just the correct number of milliseconds the iPhone turns ON without that annoying Voice Control. But that is very difficult to get correct, so as often as not I wind up with Voice Control rather than getting into my iPhone.

The second option is merely trading one annoying feature, Voice Control, for another, Siri. Both are annoying when trying to turn ON the iPhone.

This reminds me of Microsoft's Clippy. An annoying feature they eventually did away with because of all the complaints. I'm sure Voice Control has some good abilities, but it should have a kill switch just like Siri. It should be an option. Apple shouldn't just shove it down our throats whether we want it or not.

Works fine for me on my iPhone 6. With "Press Home to Unlock" disabled, I get the same behaviour as on previous versions of iOS. Touch "Home" to activate the fingerprint scanner and unlock; press "Home" to get Siri (which I use a lot).

If you keep reading at the wikihow link, step 8 addresses that : "Toggle Siri off on the lock screen: Tap the "Siri" option to turn off Siri from the lock screen. "
