It is entirely possible that with this new firmware that the battery meter will need to be calibrated.

Right. Do you happen to know what is the best way to calibrate the KA1's battery meter?

The patches would have to be re-installed after the firmware update as the modified files would be overwritten by the update. So if you have a KA1 or Aura2, copy the entire set of files, if you are updating an H2O (as an example), just copy the KoboRoot.tgz. As the Glo HD is also a mark 6 hardware, you should be able to copy the entire file set. While I haven't seen a Kobo ereader bricked by a firmware update not intended for it, there is no guarantee that this might not happen. |

I upgraded to the new firmware last night. I ensured that autosync was disabled. I disabled wifi and then turned backlight to 5% and read for a few minutes. The battery was still in the 97% range when I closed the cover for the night. This morning it was at 57% battery. I did a factory reset and started a battery charge and will wait a few days for official release of the firmware. If this doesn't fix my problem I'm going to get the Kindle Oasis and say goodbye to Kobo.

It is no where near as bad as everyone thinks. It is better to avoid it, but don't get hung up about it. Just use the device as it is intended to be used and recharge when convenient.
And the big issue, as JSWolf stated, is if you don't recharge within a reasonable amount of time. |

so, if I understand what you said... after update firmware to sync the battery, We have to going down to 0% and then a full charge to 100%
right? |

Right. You have to do this a few times. So if you have your KA1 out and about with you, and the battery is low, make sure you have a battery backup with you so you can charge to full.
