When I tried this, I also tried switching the type back to FAT32 and it still worked.
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately nothing shows up in Disk Management when I connect the Kobo.

Is it showing in device manager? Or the list of USB devices?

Nowhere. Luckily I can still add books via the SD card, so it's not the end of the world, but it's kind of frustrating...

Hmmm... disconnect your Kobo form the computer, download and run Nirsoft's USBDeview. In USBDeview's display, select and remove any unconnected devices that you feel suspicious. Check the 3 devices selected in the attached image as a sample.

Not seeing the device anywhere is different. DNSB's suggestion is a good one. But, is the SD card seen when in the device, or are you taking it out and mounting it separately?

No new devices show up in USBDeview when plugging in the Kobo.

To access the SD card, I take it out of the device and use a separate reader. I can't access it while the device is plugged in via USB.

I'm going to try another computer today, see if maybe it's a bad USB port on the Kobo.

At this point, I'm afraid that you may be correct. If neither the internal or external storage show up and you've tried different ports and cables, the Kobo itself is about the only item left.

Good luck!

I would try a different computer as the last recourse and if that doesn't work, then it is the Kobo not working.

Just going to ask the obvious, because it's something I would forget/miss...when you're plugging your Kobo in to your computer, you're remembering to click on the "connect" button that appears on the Kobo screen aren't you?

On my laptop, the Windows 10 Insider Preview 14942 virtual machine connected to both 3.19 and 4.1 firmware without issue (well, other than the usual issue that my KA1 wants to scan the drive every 3 or 4 connects despite safely ejecting).

Got my Kobo back, and there is no recognition from my PC at all with 14942 (software 3.19).

Weird and wonderful. The only device I have that is on 3.19 is my wife's Aura (original) and it is recognized happily. Do you get the unmounted volume in Disk Manager?

No, and I never did during the previous debacle, either, while you and many others did. Mine is the Aura; I've re-checked the cable (you know, just in case, even though I know it's okay...). Sorry, this should probably go into the other thread.

Are you sure it's not something to do with that computer? I cannot see Microsoft fixing the problem and then botching it again.
