The solution would be to take some lessons in how to accurately aim a bazooka.

Ugh. Here we are into October, we've had what the local weather person called a "strong" cool front, and it is still miserably hot.
/I know this is nothing compared to the hurricane many have dealt/are dealing with. |

The thing that drives me nuts is that extraverts don't get that having a problem-solving or other discussion centered around tweaking lifehacks etc. is not the same as their "small talk" Thus I positively HATE being accused to be social based on the fact that I like and prefer talking with and to others when it leads to mutual learning. Re the other idea: you two should at least meet and see what happens ![]() I don't play this game anymore but it 'd be fun to see if you two would fit. |

I get asked a lot if I'm not lonely, because I don't have a lot of good friends and prefer to do things on my own. But I'm not. I'm perfectly happy to potter about doing whatever on my own. Quote:
Unfortunately for me November and December isn't just busy in the store and the normal holiday time social events but there are a lot of birthdays of family and friends. So I've found that after the first week January it's a good time for me to have a "reading retreat" and recharge my batteries. For me it doesn't help that people usually have a party on Saturday night; it's the busiest day of the week in the store and I'm usually tired and not in the mood to be social. |

I wonder if MobileRead has an unusually high percentage of introverts (me too!) -- because introverts are among the biggest readers.
I agree with most of what you've said! |

I'm a introvert. I rarely leave my home. All my social interaction is through the internet. I find going out and doing things exhausting. I rather stay home and read. I never get lonely. I seldom get cabin fever. My mom thinks this is bad. She begs me to just go for a ride down the street. Hubby just laughs because he knows me and he hates getting out to if he doesn't have to. We are both introverts so we just do our own thing even when we are together. He plays his Facebook game and I read or look up books. We are a good match together.

I'm somewhat introverted. I can deal with social events when needed, and even enjoy them. But I'm fairly allergic to crowds and noise levels. I had to veto a suggestion made by a friend not long back that we get together at a local BBQ joint. I like BBQ, but the place was a sports bar with a variety of sporting events on big screen TVs and a high noise level. I like to be able to talk to folks I'm dining with without shouting to make myself heard. When I'm not doing anything else, I'm reading. I tell people "I read anything that doesn't read me first, and a fair bit that does." I also say "The nice things about eBooks is that you don't call the paramedics if my To Be Read stack topples over on me!" (The TBR queue is in round thousands. If I could learn to read a different book with each eye, I might at least slow its rate of growth... ![]() While I like company, I don't require it, and I don't get bored when I'm by myself. ______ Dennis |

I am a strange type of introvert. When I am in a situation in which I am not comfortable, I actually change into extravert as a defense mechanism.

Perhaps you should suggest that MOM take your sister someplace, and that SHE pick up the tab. Right? Walk the walk, Mom, rather than just talking the talk. YOUR vacation. Your dough. Don't let her steamroll you. Hitch |

So I just got called stupid because this person made the universal sign for money. You know rub your thumb over you index and more middle finger.
I told them I don't have any money and obviously because they got mad they meant something else but when I told them what they were signing and what it meant they said I was too stupid to figure it out and left all huffy. Some people are just too rude! Sent from my XT1528 |

I much prefer my own company. Well, the cats are always welcome. I go to work and I come home. Rarely go out and socializing is awful. I have to see and talk to people at work all day and, really, I've had enough of other people by the time I get home.

And it isn't as if my sister is such stimulating company. When we're in a vacation park and we have nothing planned for the day so usually won't get up until after noon. Then she first shuffles to the bathroom for a shower, then she has breakfast. Only after that you can have a conversation with her. But then she spends most of the day behind her notebook, surfing the web. I'm expected to get food and drink and prepare dinner. She might join me for a film at night, but when she isn't behind her notebook she spends most of the time looking at her phone. I'm going on my own and having a blast just pottering about. Since I know the apartments in the park have a nice, big oven I'm already planning for at least two cookie baking sessions. |
