I've only had my AuraOne for a couple of weeks but I haven't experienced any fast overnight drains at all. The biggest drop I've seen from putting it to sleep at bedtime and waking it up 12-hours later has been 1%.
I do have the Sleep Accessory function enabled because I have a home-made cobbled together sleep cover. (It's probably the ugliest cover in Kobo-land but will have to suffice until a proper 3rd-party Slimfit cover becomes available). Apart from that, Wi-fi and every auto-sensor option have been switched off since day one. I always have the light setting at 5-15% depending on time of day. I'm not trying to say that this minimal-setup ought to be acceptable to everyone but I can easily live with it without needing to fret about when the new firmware will arrive. To be honest, I could probably live with it as-is ad infinitum. Of course, I might feel differently if I was seriously considering sending the device back and I was running out of time. Just in case it's helpful to anyone, these are the relevant settings in my config file, .kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf Code:

Got my replacement without notice even though they said it would be a few weeks. So far the screen look's better although I had issue's with Calibre like the H20 disaster that I had it seems to not want to connect to it sometimes it will sometimes it wont and having to work around the dreaded Error communicating with device errors.

I had a couple of issues with Calibre putting files on the KA1 initially; after transferring all of my files to the reader, every time I clicked on a new book the screen would freeze and I'd have to re-start it. However, I powered it off overnight and the next morning everything was just fine =). A bit slow still but I suspect, based on other people's posts, that I might have too many files in a couple collections.
Thanks for the posts about manually fixing the auto-sync bug, that was really helpful and an easy fix! Looking forward to an official update that will fix the issue permanently. |

Well, I now have a complete set. The KA1 and official sleep cover. The look and feel of the cover is nice. It has the kobo logo embossed inside and out. My KA1 fits perfectly inside the holder nice and secure. I was a little suprised that the back cover had a button overlay for the power, but it seems to be a perfect option.. the sleep functions work perfectly. The stand option works nice. The magnets hold the cover back when I read. Overall it's a home run on both the cover and reader. Although I think the cover really should be priced at 19.99$ no more no less, instead of the 59.99$

Yes, for all settings, if they are missing the defaults are used. And for a lot of them, choosing the default will mean the option is not written to the config file. And that's something that is useful and annoying at the same time.

I'm still not positive what was going on. Everything is updated to date although I get error communicating with device when I have the KoboTouchExtended plug in enabled. I don't see the Aura one listed on it so that may be why. I just disabled it and it worked fine after. After reading awhile the only thing I noticed that is off is when turning it on the light kind of warms up and bounces about in brightness until it moves to the right one with auto brightness off although that's not rely an issue. Perfect device otherwise with the cover
