Nobody really said it will come at the 3rd. It's rather this week.

Not true. Someone did.

Or whenever it's ready.

In the old days when I was young I would rush for updates and daily check; now I'm an old man at 39, I go for a stable and slow update rather than an immature one.

Patience is a virtue.

Has anyone found the back-lighting buggy? I find at night in the dark the auto brightness is to bright, I find 1-4% just right, however sometimes if I set it to these manually after a few seconds the back-lighting switches to 0% on its own and I have to fiddle with over and over to get a value of 1% or 2% to stick. Is this normal? This happens regardless if I have auto brightness on or off.

The auto-brightness does seem to be a bit wonky, yes. In my experience it sometimes disables itself, and I haven't found any logic to it yet. I've had the 'reset to 0%' once or twice as well.

Yes I have come across the bug, sometimes the lighting value changes even though 'auto' is switched off. I know this is happening because the brightness + natural tone increase or decrease incrementally in a stepped fashion. Typically its only a few steps, but it is noticeable especially if I am reading in the dark at very low brightness levels. My guess is that the light sensor stays on even though the 'auto' function is disabled.

Nope. I have auto brightness turned off and it never changes the brightness. Not for the normal light nor the natural light.

Do you think perhaps you could be accidentally triggering the option - slide finger up/down left edge of screen to adjust light level? Now the screen is flush it seems to be more of an occupational hazard that it used to be with the IR recessed screens.

You can switch off this feature if it's causing you more problems than it's worth.

Not in this case, I would rather have all my covers replaced with skulls and crossbones, all fonts replaced with comic sans and have the reader randomly reboot then to have to constantly recharge the device and worry that I won't be able to read when I finally have the time because the device will be dead yet again.

This is not a perk that we are waiting on where patience is a virtue. We are waiting on a crucial update that makes a difference between the reader being usable or not. This is not about patience and wisdom, this is about wanting the device that was advertised.

They have cases on Amazon that work with the sleep/wake function. This is the one I got. I like a case that is highly visible since I'm always losing my reader.

Definately not although I can see how one might think that is what is happening. It turns out rebooting the unit makes it go away. I will wait to see if it happens again. Still a bug though. The steps to reproduce are slide the brightness to something low like 1 or 2%. Auto brightness does not matter. You don't even need to touch the screen other than leaving the "window" that you adjust brightness in. It also happes when sliding to adjust if you get it in the very low brightness range. It will turn off after a few seconds. Since I power cycled it hasn't re-ocurred.
