Re-install all add-in applications.
That includes both SS and python.

Only the jail break and a few other special bits and pieces are protected (bridged) across Amazon updates.

He instalado kindle-python-0.14.N-touch_pw1.zip y kindle-linkss-0.24.N.zip para poder ver de salvapantalla el libro que estoy leyendo y lo que me sale de salvapantalla es el siguiente mensaje: the screensavers hack is currently in cover mode, but hasnt yet successfully processed a book cover.
No se cual es la solución. Lo he reiniciado pero me sigue saliendo el mismo mensaje. Tengo un PW1 con firmware 5.6.1.1. con KUAL-v2.7.zip y kual-mrinstaller-1.6. n. zip.
La instalación de phyton y kindle linkss dice SUCCESS así que no se cual es el problema.

What type of books?
That is, what is the filename extension of the book file?

Consulta, has dado tiempo sufuciente con el libro abierto ( leyendolo ) para que el programa procese la imagen del libro? a mi me pasó y tomó varios minutos con el libro leyendolo para que me apareciera la caratula por primera vez.

Si, ayer estuve leyendo mas o menos 1/2 hora y la caratula no salio. A mi me da la sensacion q no instala el kindle-linkss pero es simplemente una sensacion. Soy muy novata en este asunto

Good day everyone.

Screensaver is installed. Firmware on my PW2 is 5.7.3

However, my images do not fill up the screen. Behind the image I can see the screen that was showing before.

Any help that can be provided would be most welcome. DOH, think i found the issue. My images are 600x800. Testing soon as I can.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, I believe I have a touch 2. ( downloaded links_0, and used Update_linkss_0.24.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3_koa_kt 3)
I have the kindle book launcher, when I copy paste the .bin in the kindle but the update kindle is grayed out.
( I finished installing hack; upgrading and installing the launcher, I enabled wifi; maybe that's the problem ?)
read a couple of the forum, but there is a lot and hopefully I didn't just miss something. even tried putting it in between document folder and change log text
have no experience doing any of this; took me a whole day to " hack it",

I'll fix my post if you tell me if it violates any rules or stuff; also I'm paranoid this thread is dead and will try to pm you original poster.

You're not reading carefully and/or didn't read all the documentation.



On all Kindle device that have firmware 5.5 or newer "Update my Kindle" can only be used for installing Amazon signed bin files (i.e. when you want to upgrade device to newer firmware without having to wait days/weeks/months to recive the update via OTA update). You can not install bin files downloaded from MobileRead (those would be "custom packages) that way anymore, you have to use "MRPi" installer which is a KUAL extension.
You "install" (=unpack the archive content to Kindle drive) MRPi, and then you put/copy all the bin files for hacks you want (like this screensaver hack, which also requires Python bin) into "mrpackages" folder and then you install it using KUAL (KUAL>Helper+>Install MR Packages).
Then you use KUAL submenu/buttons to configure those hacks.

Recently i received the new update on my kindle, then screensaver cover hack stopped working.
I re-installed python and linkss but still can not get book cover as screensaver.
It shows

The ScreenSavers Hack is currently in 'cover' mode, but hasn't yet successfully processed a book cover

Is there any solution? The book i read have cover and yesterday before FW update it was working fine.

Okay, I am trying this now. Before I did this, however, I put 5 original screensavers in the links>screensaver folder. I know these are all good screensavers because they all worked before that damn update.

An Update: About a week ago I added some new books in my Kindle using Calibre. I then had to restarted my Kindle because the screen froze. After I did so, my screensaver turned into one of the covers of the new books I had added to my Kindle -- which was different.

The thing is, no matter what book I am reading, when I turn off my Kindle the screen cover is the cover of that first cover -- over and over again.

So, my Kindle is restarting. The screensaver hack and such installed as it rebooted, but then I got an Application Error box. Am now going to enter your directions above.

So I got into the Screensaver Behavior, but there is *no* "Image Cycle Default" What I have on the menu is:

* Random Image Cycle
* Shuffled Image Cycle
* Last Screen
* Cover
* /

I am going to try the first one, which is "Random Image Cycle". ANd I am restarting the Framework now.

It says it is "randomizing screensavers" as it restarts.

SO! It is how showing my individual screensavers when I turn it off! I had installed 5 of my own screensavers and when I reach the 5th one and turned it off, it went back to the first one it has shown and the showed all 5 in the same order. So I am not sure what was randomized, but all 5 screensavers are showing *and* repeating! YEAH!

I have been jaded by this entire experience, so I am worried this won't continue to work as it is doing now, which is the way I really want it to be. So I am going to install some more screensavers, do the directions again above, and see what happens then.

If it shows the screensaver all okay and repeats them, I will *not* reply today. HOWEVER, if it does continue to show my screensavers in this way (which is what I wanted!) I *will* let you know this is about a week.

So that lasted about 10 minutes.

I took out the 5 original screensavers I had installed and put in about 40 new ones.

I then started to test my Kindle my turning the power off and on too see if my screensavers showed. It showed the first two -- then it went back to showing whatever was on the screen when I turned it off. No more of my screensavers showed.

I tried some of the other opinions just to see what happened, but no luck.

I noticed there was an option to turn off the screensaver hack, so I did that and am not back to the 20 original Amazon-made screensavers that came with the Kindle.

Not today, because I said, this has been going on for so long how I just become very frustrated and depressed. (I made 600 of my own screensavers for years and cannot use any of them!)

The one thing I am wondering is *perhaps* I have too much in my Kindle. I have a LOT of books on it. When I put those screensavers in, I notice I had less than 10% of memory left. I am going to remove some of ebooks and put fewer screensavers in so I'll have more than 10% memory and restore the hack. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem, but I thought I would at least try this.

I really do NOT understand why it will show some of my screensavers and then just STOP showing them and instead only show whatever was on the screen when I turned the power off. It doesn't make any sense.

The same issue here. Yesterday I installed the jailbreak and am still testing.

What worked for me: uninstalling ScreenSavers, restart PW2, manually deleting both linkss-folders on Kindle (root and extensions), new installation via MRInstaller, restart PW2.

What I discovered: it seems to work only for books coming from Calibre, recent books directly coming from Amazon don´t show a cover.
