No, it is the version 02b, which I uploaded just one minute ago. This is the version "tested and approved by Trekk." Be aware, that you have to apply this file only after you have installed the KSM 08 from the first post. (If you did already install KSM 08 and any of the previous KSM08_ext_aura_one files, just install the KSM08_ext_aura_one_02b.zip in addition.)

I just tried it on my KA1 and can confirm that it really works, both usb and wifi.
//koreader doesnt work at all though :/ when I click on it, it just refreshes the screen and I am back in KSM home where I was.

I didn't thought about this.

But you then need to be sure that device is shut off through script that enables that synchronization. And that can be a problem, as I witnessed on my device.

I constantly was getting my clock 3 minutes off after restart. Now I understand that this was because of hardware clock being off 3 minutes. Setting time once a year wouldn't be that much of a problem. Especially for people who use nntp server for setting time.

Just to mention, on some of my devices (mobile phones) clock is very inaccurate. I need to set them up on weekly base. They are based on Android, so linux is their main OS.

To have koreader work on KA1, you need version of koreader that recognizes it.

The one that does that can be found here: https://github.com/koreader/koreader...ment-249783992

Or you can manually apply needed patch.

I hope they soon will have some official versions available, but for now, this should work just fine.

If you have already installed KSM 08 on one of the two new models, you might try to
  • extract KoboRoot.tgz from the uploaded archive
  • copy the extracted KoboRoot.tgz into .kobo of your device
  • safely eject and disconnect your device
  • select (in KSM home) "handle update" > "install update" (do not select "install partial update")
  • wait until the device has rebooted

The expected effects are a better default font size for the KSM environment, and that you can establish a wifi connection (this concerns KSM and nickel).

I will wait same time whether there are further things to do for these two devices, and later include the changes in a general update of KSM 08.

Be aware that the archive uploaded to this post should only be used if KSM 08 is already successfully installed on the device.
Be also aware that the new models have less reset and recover options than some of the older models had. You can brick your device by modifying its software.

[Edit: I have removed the archive KSM08_ext_aura_one.zip, and will replace it by an improved version.
Edit 2: I have uploaded a new version (v2). This version solves the wifi problem. Edit 3: v2b solves the wifi problem and the usb problem]
I can't seem to find any 'handle update' option at all in my KSM home page. The options are:

front light on
front light off
info
start nickel
usb
wifi
configure
tools
scripts
user scripts
reboot
power off

where's the 'handle update'?

Only when you copy KoboRoot.tgz to .kobo, will this option appear.

Ah, good to know, so KSM08 does work on KA1.

1) Any differences, or gotcha's installing it on the KA1?

2) and, per thread, KOReader will need a new version to be released for it..

That means that you left the default settings unchanged to the effect that KSM runs only each second time you reboot the reader. This opens the door for nickel to install updates on its own. If nickel installs a real FW update, you will have to reinstall KSM afterwards. Therefore, it is better to change the settings (see the first post of this thread, in the box "Installation"). This will allow you to control updates, and install the Kobo FW updates in a way that KSM survives (by selecting "install partial update").

New version is available and working, just follow link I gave.

Soon they will have working server (I keep fingers crossed) and it will be much easier to find KA1 compatible version.

Thanks all. Intalled KSM08,and then KOReader per Alan's link, and also Coolreader 2016-03 on m new KA1 per the OP, and things appear to be working fine.

Now back to reading

I do have additional KSM question. when I was charhing my kobo h2O, thvoltage value vas always the same, "5000000", now whenever I am charging my KA1, the voltage varies between "3550000" to "3800000", though I guess this is because there is a different battery inside?
