Not yet. I would rather they take their time, do it right and make any other changes needed, then rush and get some details wrong.

It still sounds like software issue(s)/problem(s)...probably several intermingled.

It does seem surprising that pre-release testing didn't flesh out some, if not most or all, of the problems.

Have there been people who tried the remedies uncovered and laid out here yet still could not solve the problem(s)?

I've set up the Aura ONE with the desktop application and disabled the Wifi; I never connected it. I also have Auto-sync off. I haven't used the reader for a few days, and it seems to lose 1-2% of battery power per 24 hours. The Kindle Paperwhite 1 I still have loses less, as far as I remember.

I'm getting 3-4 hours reading with wifi off, sync off and 30% brightness. Battery life sucks.

Eld, you don't say if you have executed the remedial measures that people have offered up here.

Agreed, they shouldn't be necessary, but it appears they are usually, if not always, successful.

I'm getting around thirty hours (no wifi, synch or light) - so hopefully things will improve for you when they get the firmware sorted out.

The main problem is that the usage indication is so 'jerky' that you can never be sure where you are.

Ironically, if you ignore the percentage figure and just use the battery icon, it's pretty much as accurate as the Kindle (albeit it drains a little faster).

The KOBO CSR just informed me the update is been delayed to the 3th of October. The reason is that they are working to improve/fix some other issues found on the KOBO AURA ONE beside the battery problems.

Can anyone point me to the post describing how to disable auto sync?

Edit: nevermind, found it

I wonder: should the reader be using power when not in use, if Wifi is off? I think my Kindle can go months on a battery charge if I don't use it, but I haven't tested it. There hasn't been a time in which I haven't used my Kindle for months at a stretch.

It will be using some power, however it should be an extremely small amount

After switching off wifi I'm seeing very low battery drain when the device is sleeping - overnight it dropped something like 1% - which is a huge improvement over the battery draw when it is on.

However, I'm seeing something like 10% per hour when the device is in use (still no wifi, brightness 5% or so) - which is much higher than I'd expect. So it looks like the most serious issue is wifi, but perhaps the new firmware will also improve power consumption for other parts of the machine.

Having said that, now I can use it - it is is a splendid piece of kit that I hope Kobo can make perfect.

Mike.

My battery consumption was OK, albeit with a very jerky level indicator.

The then it 'lost' the English dictionary and I had to enable wifi to get it back. Despite turning wifi off and having synch disabled from day one, it completely drained the battery overnight.

It will be interesting to see if this drain rate continues after the forced 'full off'.

Mine uses about 10% per reading hour, too (no wifi, no auto-light, no sync). I have the distinct feeling this is as good as it gets, update or not.

ETA You are right about it being splenid otherwise! I so love the big screen and the Donald-Trump-colored light :d

Same here. I think the 10% per hour is probably going to be par for the course for the KA1

Since my post #192 I have read 4 hours for a 10% drop (from 100%).

That is with no light and no Wi-Fi.

There device has had a full battery drain twice - one intentional and one not, and has hence been recharged from near empty three times.

Of course, with the rather erratic battery level reporting it's quite possible that it may plummet 10% during the next five minutes reading.
