Thinking about a Kindle...will people on the waiting list get the new version?

Hi, I am new to the forum and have enjoyed all the discussion already. I am thinking about adding my name to the Kindle waiting list, since the wireless connectivity is an attractive aspect. Since the new version is supposedly going to release in Q1 09, do you think those on the waiting list will be the first to receive the new model?

First, as everone is aware, we don't know WHAT Bezos is going to announce. A lot of people are in for a big disappointment, I think.

Even if a new version is released, I would doubt people on the waiting list would receive the new ones. According the to amazon discussion pages, some have already gotten their Kindle, after waiting many weeks.

Some have reported calling CS and being told abosolutely not, the new versions would not be sent to those on the waiting list.

Remember, you always have a 30 day period in which to return the item if you aren't satisfied.

And finally, if worst comes to worst, and there is a new model, and its the one supposedly leaked, I'm so very glad I have the current version........

I'm pretty new around here too. I've never tried to read rocks, and I'm not sure you can use a Kindle for that. But that's cool.

I just ordered a "barely used" Kindle in order to get mine faster. Some of the prices there get pretty outrageous, but if you watch the low end, sometimes there are ok prices, too (those go uber-fast, so you may want to practice up with the clicker

).

I'm also still looking at the iRex for my larger dimensioned game book PDF's, but that seems to be even more difficult to get a hold of.

I beg to differ. All we know is that Amazon are holding a press conference on 9th Feb. Full stop. Could be about anything.

Why would they release the new version then when the old version is backordered until 2nd week of March...

All people who ordered for March 14th shipping date would cancel their orders. It would make more sense for them to announce this in like April or May.
