Kobo hasn't released the firmware yet. Based on Kobo's previous releases, I think that someone took a "the week of the 26th" to mean "the 26th".

I seriously doubt that new f/w will be out today. I actually can't believe a CSR would even supply a date to a customer for a release of code.

Gracias por contactar al Servicio de Atención al Cliente de Rakuten Kobo. Fue un placer ayudarle hoy.

Usted nos ha contactado debido a que su nuevo Kobo Aura One presenta diferente fallas.

Ante todo nuestras más sinceras disculpas. Nosotros deseamos que usted disfrute de su Kobo desde el primer día y que su Kobo Aura One le brinde muchas horas de buena lectura.

El problema de la batería radica en un problema en el software del equipo. El día 26 de septiembre lanzaremos una actualización que debe solucionar este inconveniente. Por favor actualice su Kobo haciendo un "Sycn" ese día. Si el problema persiste después de la actualización por favor vuelva a contactarnos.

Ahora bien, para intentar solucionar los otros problemas aplique un reset de factoría en el Kobo, aunque le recomiendo que espere a la actualización del día 26, que lo más seguro traiga otras mejoras en general para el equipo. Si después de la actualización los problemas persisten, entonces sí puede aplicar el reset de fabrica.

Dejamos el correo abierto en espera de su confirmación de que los problemas fueron resueltos después de la nueva actualización del día 26.

Reset de fábrica
Puedes efectuar un reset de fábrica para restablecer la configuración original de tu eReader. Tras un reset de fábrica, tendrás que configurar y sincronizar tu eReader de nuevo.

Si llevas a cabo un reset de fábrica en tu eReader:
Quitarás todos los libros de tu eReader. Los libros que hayas comprado en Kobo pueden volver a descargarse desde Kobo Cloud después de un reset de fábrica.
Perderás todos los marcadores y anotaciones que hayas hecho en tus libros desde la última vez que sincronizaste tu eReader.
Cerrarás sesión en tu cuenta del eReader.
Restablecerás todas tus configuraciones y preferencias.
Devolverás el eReader a su configuración original.
Si es posible, haz una copia de seguridad de todos los libros o documentos que hayas añadido a tu eReader mediante Adobe Digital Editions, o que hayas añadido manualmente desde tu ordenador. No tienes que hacer una copia de seguridad de los libros que hayas adquirido en Kobo. Los libros que hayas comprado en Kobo pueden volver a descargarse desde Kobo Cloud después de un reset de fábrica.
Ve a la pantalla de inicio.
Pulsa el icono Más en la parte superior de la pantalla.
Aparecerá el panel de Configuración rápida.
Pulsa Configuración.
Pulsa Información del dispositivo.
Pulsa Reset de fábrica debajo de Avanzado.
Pulsa Reiniciar ahora.

People aren't questioning that you were told it would be available today, they are questioning that the CSR had the correct info to tell you that. Kobo has never put out a hard date on when they were releasing a new firmware because unexpected things can come up in testing so the date may have to be pushed back. Best case, Sept 26 was probably a target date, not withstanding what the rep told you.

I too, received this email from Kobo. I was originally authorized to return by device for exchange but then, before receiving the return details, was sent the following email:

We have just received and update from our development team that has advised us that a release to the Aura One software is schedule to go out on September 26th.

This release should assist in improving the battery life and performance on the Aura One eReader. Once released, you will need to closely monitor battery life related issue to see if the issues have been addressed.

I would like to ask you to bare with us for a few more days until this update is released because it could be enough to solve the battery issues that you are experiencing right now.

Please reply to this email and let us know your thoughts about it.

Bottom line, it is at the time of this post. However like KA1 it's on the same schedule due to be released today... actual shipping 2 to three weeks.

Certainly..

Reset to factory default.. (save your books to HDD as this will erase all). Follow setup except only use the desktop software. Do not setup over wifi. Leave your wifi off and do not turn it on till the new update is released. Do all syncs with the kobo desktop software. Once new firmware is released and confirmed to fix the issue you can go to normal wifi syncing etc.

I have trouble with the web browser : it doesn't record session and password.
So i have to type my login and password everytime I want to go on goodreads or anywhere.

Is it known or a firmware issue ?

I'd call that a known lack of functionality. Not likely something that will be added any time soon (the browser isn't core to the device so it doesn't get much attention)
