I've listened to this one. It's OK--not a stand-out thriller; more of a Lifetime Movie-type story. I wouldn't recommend using a credit on it, but for four bucks it's an entertaining enough way to pass the time.

I've already picked up a few titles in the concurrent Downpour sale and might go back, but I've seen nothing at all in this Audible sale to tempt me, nor in recent Audible sales. I'll also pick up the occasional Downpour weekly deal while I never want the Audible daily deal. I hope Downpour stays viable (no DRM adds to the appeal).

I wish Downpour would do a daily deal.

Audible seems to do a lot of self-help and SF in its daily deals, and those are nonstarters for me. When they offer mysteries and thrillers, I often have already bought or borrowed them.

I think the current Audible sale is one of the worst--I'm sorry they extended it; I was hoping the next sale would be an improvement!

Just wanted to share a piece of information. If anyone wants to discuss it, probably best for you to direct us to a different thread to do it.

I asked my local library about acquiring a particular title in downloadable audio format. I think that their response, especially the second paragraph, gives some interesting insight into how things work between audiobook publishers and libraries:

This title is not available for purchase by libraries in the requested format. Unfortunately, some major publishers of eBooks and eAudiobooks do not sell to libraries or only sell their "backlist" of older titles to libraries. Great discussions are happening in the library and publishing worlds about how publishers can make eBooks available to libraries, and we're watching and participating in these closely. We're monitoring availability of eBooks and audio eBooks and will continue to develop the collection.

The audiobook publisher is Audible Studios. AFAIK none of their titles are available to libraries and most/all aren't available anywhere digitally but directly from Audible.

Sometimes Audible studios titles are available on CD or MP3 CD through Brilliance Audio (since Amazon owns both) and libraries can get them that way (just not digitally).

Yep. Most everything for libraries (like Overdrive) is non-DRM mp3 files. Audible would never deign to allow their stuff to be distributed without DRM.

Yet you can buy it as an MP3 CD.

I think it's more of an Amazon doesn't do libraires (digitally) thing. Amazon eBooks are not in libraries, nor are Brilliance titles anymore (since they went MP3 only on OD). Brilliance MP3's are however available to buy through places like Downpour. The physical versions are available to libraries however.
