I don't think it's quite as direct as that-- I'm going to assume disorganization rather than malice in this case.

I might as well make use of this before my head explodes. For starters, this is my wedding anniversary. Three years of wedded bliss to the best guy EVER...except when he isn't. He got on a tear today and snapped my head off, which he didn't mean to do, but ..well you know how it goes. Or maybe you don't..but it does.
Then I'm out paying bills, and I stop to make a car payment. When I go back outside the car won't start. No lights, no dings, no nothing. The car people come out and look at it and decide it's the neutral safety switch. No tow truck is available because the one they use, the only driver is at the dentist. So I walk home (temperatures here are in the teens, Fahrenheit) and try to get hold of my husband. He freaks out because the hubs are locked (manual 4WD) and if it's towed will kill something. AFTER I told him they weren't going to be able to tow it.
Then I get warm and hit mobileread, only to find Robert of Astak being a horrid tease and offering EZ Readers in COLORS for 299, but he only has 20 of them and I won't have the money until next Friday. Life sucks.

p.s. Robert, I'm only teasing but you must admit it wasn't good timing...

Thanks Patricia. Update: Chris (my husband) called a buddy of his (Chris is at work, we work second shift) who came and got me and the car keys. He figured out the problem with the car and it is home. The repair needed is minor, should cost under 20 bucks.
So we do still get to to go out to dinner tomorrow night. Chris also apologized for being short with me earlier.
Robert B offered to try to hold an EZ Reader unit for me - so things are looking up...

What with having no vehicle, I called off work tonight - which means I get a three day weekend. I'll pay for it next week with a short check, but...

Neko, doesn't someone here have a tag line something to the effect, "Don't attribute to incompetence what can be explained by malice!" Or was it the other way around? I like my way better.

As you probably know, Amazon is expected to announce the next Kindle on 9 February. Unfortunately, no one from MobileRead will be covering the event.

We were not invited. Everyone that Amazon wanted to come has been invited, and that apparently does not include the team here at Mobileread Forums.

I used it once, but I filed off the serial number from Robert A. Heinlein.

Never initially ascribe malice to something than could easily be explained by stupidity....

Thank you! Things are looking up - since the car is fixed, we're going out to dinner for our anniversary a day late. Chris also agreed that since the RobertB offer on the Astak EZ Reader is time limited, we could pull the money for that out of savings (which I forgot we had), and put it back with the tax refund next week, which is what I was originally waiting on to order. So, IF I can get hold of someone Monday - (I tried calling today, guess they don't work on Saturday

) -
And IF there's any left by then - I can get that ordered.
