I would not be a happy camper if I didn't have the benefit of multiple advisories on this board as to how to remedy the serious problems I encountered on start up.

I would imagine there are countless people who have no clue how to stabilize their new KA1s.

I don't know anyone who has bought a fossil fuel car that met it's advertised fuel consumption so probably a bad choice of analogy.

OTOH, the bugs in the 4.0 firmware are rather annoying. That I've seen worse during my years of playing with electronics and computers might help keep the annoyance from doing nasties for my blood pressure.

I just got an email from KOBO apologising for the battery problems and other issues I'm having with the device. They are informing me than on the 26/09 there will be releasing a new firmware fixing all those issues. Below the answer from them in spanish:

I chose the car because it is something most people don't try to fix themselves, that's all. I don't know if or if not the fuel consumption was always off the advertisements or not, it's not the point and I don't think it is significant in this context.

What irks me to no end is the callous selling of stuff that isn't fully developped or working as promised.

Yesterday I thought of Apple always being mentioned as "it just works right out of the box". Isn't this the minimum one can expect when one buys something? For it to work?

And it makes me very angry when I am a beta tester for my money. If they want me to test their product, they should pay me for my time and effort, not the other way around.

No, but I am trying to get Ford to take responsibility for using, or building, a faulty part with NO SUCCESS!!!!

Dealing with car issues is WAY worse than dealing with a faulty reader that is meant to be for enjoyment.

i agree when you buy a brand new item regardless of what it is. you expect it to work 100% perfectly, if it doesn't send it back and get a replacement or a refund whichever is your preference.

best wishes koboy

It would be great if all computer software just worked properly without bugs but that has never happened from my first DOS computer to now. Best you can hope for is quick updates fixing bugs. They are never going to make everyone happy. I even see complaints about Amazon's customer service.

Of course the fuel consumption is always off. Take a look at the EPA testing procedures and compare them to your real life driving. The only real use is to give you an idea of how the fuel efficiencies of different vehicles compare. However since the original post referred to going back to the dealership if the vehicle's fuel economy did not match the advertised numbers, I felt it was a poor analogy.

@filmo I too dream a of a day when software/technology works as it should.

I miss the old days. Pens, typewriters and landline phones. They didn't let you down.

I don't have much experience with typewriters and my old landline phone when I was a kid certainly did a good job of the single job it had to do, but I've been let down by pens hundreds of times.
