I haven't re-charged since Friday. Initially I charged for 4 hours by the wall outlet. I'm at 38% after ~8 hours of reading. I have Wi-fi on, auto-brightness on and natural light on. The light has been about 10% on average. I've also done more than reading by pressing lots of options to check out all the settings and figure out how things work, browsing on the bookstore, downloading Overdrive books, etc. I briefly connected by USB to my computer a few times to authorize with ADE & transfer a 3M library book as well as to transfer a few books via calibre. I didn't leave it connected for long to charge much.

EDIT: I also had the sleep setting at 15 minutes, which I didn't change until last night to be 5 minutes. Since it's new and I was playing around with it so much I wasn't using the sleep cover or putting the reader in sleep mode when I walked away from it. I let my device fully deplete then charged it for 4 hours. I turned of wifi and auto sync. Before I went to sleep, the battery was 97%, 12 hours later 96%. I think it has to do with the sync and wifi always on . Since, I don't need both , I am satisifed with keeping them off for now.

I also take a charger for my phone-which for me is also a charger for my ereader! That's the wonderful thing about non-proprietary charging cables.

I travel with iOS devices. I bought a small tip adapter that I can put on the end of the Apple Lightning cable and charge my ereaders. It's more efficient than carrying cables of multiple types.

Me too. The oasis would be a lot more attractive to be if I didn't have to buy the included cover (and it didn't have the color gradient).

So far so good on my battery. 2nd charge was Friday night, I had about 14 hours of reading, various setting changes, getting used to the device, sleep, shutdown and still had 36% of battery life last night before sticking it on the charger again. I'm using a power plug-in w/usb - not the computer to charge.

My Kobo Aura One definitely drains very quickly when the auto feature is one for either the brightness or the natural light, so I have stopped using either one. Seems kind of pointless to have these features if it's going to drain the battery so quickly. I used to recharge my other Kobos (Glo HD, Aura HD and Glo) every several weeks or so. The Kobo Aura One so far needs to be recharged after just a day or two. It's disappointing.

I usually jus plug the cable in, then color it with an indelible ink bright color..this way i don't have to fumble trying to figure which way is up ![]() JFeole |

I had the same issue. Turning off auto sync and wifi did the trick for me. No battery drain anymore |

USB is the real life version of Shrödinger's Cat: It's always the right side up, and always the wrong way around, both at the same time. You won't ever be able to get it to plug it in correctly until you actually look at the connector.

Can't say I've ever had any particular issues with micro-USB connectors. The end that plugs into the charger or computer generally has a graphic of some sort to indicate the upper side, and the device end is asymmetric, and hence to tell which way up it goes.

And ever since I got my new phone, I've been hooked on USB-C, once you're used to that, that MicroUSB is annoying! Quote:

So I'll have to make sure I have two cables and the charger, or a charger with a converter.
