Maggie Dresden is the daughter of Harry Dresden. Though her father saved her from the Red Court when she was 8, some creature from the Netherealm took her shortly afterwards, where time passed differently. By the time Harry realises his daughter is in danger again, Maggie is back in the Mortal world, a young woman with memory loss, until she comes across Harry performing Magic and it all comes flooding back.

It is not your fault it is mine. Too much happening. And unfortunate for MR, I will only find a few minutes to read a little here, but not post. I am working through Jeff Wheeler's books right now. Started with Kingfountain trilogy (last book coming out soon) and right now in 4th book of the Muirwood series (2nd trilogy). Interesting concept, but no urban fantasy. Only fantasy.

Hope you will enjoy it. I got the audiobook through a free trial from audible just to see how well it is done. Compared to the book it is just as enjoyable. The one downside to audiobooks for me is that it is too easy to listen while doing something else. When I multitask I usually don't pay enough attention to the book and miss a few things.

If audiobooks work for you the first time around, more power to you - I need to read the book first for a more immersive experierence.

That is exactly how I could never feel comfortable with audiobooks myself. Whenever I try to listen the audiobooks, I easily get disoriented with other things and usually miss a lot of matter in the story.

So you have suggested a good idea DuckieTigger, to first read a book and then subsequently listen the audiobook. Though its double time consuming.

It may be double time consuming, but not really if you were planning to reread anyway. But, if it is too soon after reading it the first time it may be an option to listen. Either to refresh your memory or, like I did to have something to do while mowing the lawn or taking dogs for a walk.

For me what ends up happening is the strong will to reread, and then it is crushed because I can simply read something I have not read before. There will be still time to reread Aeronaut's Windlass in time before the next installment comes out. Unfortunately that will be quite a while since we are still waiting for Peace Talks.

First, I'm up to Chapter 9 and TOTALLY loving the book. I really put it off because I don't like Steam Punk, but Alan assured me, quite a while ago, I would enjoy and that is a totally correct statement (so far).

I do understand what you mean. I'm listening to this book while I sort files on my computer. Fortunately, I can stop, go back and relisten. When I drive on errands, I often listen to books that I've read in the past. Knowing the plot, if traffic gets busy or I get sidetracked trying to find mayo, I don't actually miss a lot. I listened to Dresden Files primarily while crocheting afghans and those don't require a lot of concentration unless it is a new pattern.

Actually, it is good. It gives you time to catch up on his other books and books of other authors. You KNOW what will happen when a publication date is announced. You will drop EVERYTHING and reread/relisten to the entire Dresden Files again. Just to refresh.. yourself about the plot. I still haven't listened to any of the Codex Alera stuff yet.
