I always felt that I was kinda special.

Odd that I got it early, but that I had only one choice of albums. I'll assume, then, that when the majority of folks get the newsletter that they will have three choices, as usual, and somehow I'll get the two that I'm missing.

Again, if(when) I hear from their customer service, I'll let you guys know.

I think that what she is saying is that there are two newsletters relevant to the issue that I brought up. The first is the one that I already received this month in which, as a subscriber, I got a free album. The second is the "New on Naxos" newsletter which we have been receiving and, in which, we are offered the choice of one of three albums.

The only loose end that hasn't been tied up is the fact that this is the first month (I searched my email inbox to be sure) that I received the additional newsletter. I sign up to so many mailing lists, however, that it is very possible that I signed up for this one within the past few weeks and plum forgot about it.

If you can find out how to get on the additional newsletter's mailing list, it seems to me that you will probably then be able to score two free (flac!) albums from Naxos each month instead of just one. If you find out how to do it, please make a post letting everyone else know about it.

Please forgive the shortage of information that I have on this at the present time, but I wanted to go ahead and pass along what I know. I will do more exploration and investigation in the near future, and be able to pass along more information, after that, of what else that I find.

I just found another way to get free music from Naxos. Well, Naxos supplies the music. The freebies are offered by a website called classicalmpr.org.

These freebies are offered daily, and the free tracks come in the MP3 format at least.

Let me go ahead and give you today's freebie. It is the Spring Overture by Hermann Goetz. It is performed by the Magdeburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

To get it, navigate to classicalmpr.org. Scroll down nearly halfway down the webpage. You should see an item labelled "Daily Download: Hermann Goetz - Spring Overture." If you want to download the piece, instead of streaming it, click somewhere on those words. That will take you to this webpage where you will see a link "Direct MP3 download link." Click on it.

Now the reason that I didn't just go ahead and give you the download webpage to begin with is because if you want to download each day's piece, you will need to follow the same procedure as given in the first part of the paragraph above in order to get it. If you click on the second link, it will take you to today's (September 8's) download page each time.

Now, here's something else that is super exciting. It appears, from the research that I've done so far, that all, or at least many, of the daily free downloads are archived and it is possible to download, free, every one of those! Stay tuned.

Great. You answered the question that I had about where to get archived items. I'll still look around to see if there are more somewhere. It would be nice if all of them were archived, but they may not all be.

Okay, a couple of more notes and then I'm turning in for the night.

First, a clarification/correction. The downloads change every weekday, not each of the seven days of the week. So, that's 5 per week.

Second, the RSS feed that AnemicOak mentioned is great, but I think that all that you may find is "current feed content." Currently, you can download all daily downloads, at the URL that he gave, available since August 30.

Third, here is a link to the download pages of approximately 325 daily downloads of the past. There may be a better way to access them--I'll continue to do research.

I'm pretty sure that's the newsletter for paid subscribers, per this page ("Get FREE monthly album downloads during your entire subscription period.") and what Kryshia said "as a gift for our Naxos Music Group subscribers." If you haven't paid for a subscription, then I'd say you got sent the subscriber newsletter by mistake and got a bonus freebie this month!

Since it's likely that, you probably want to use that link ASAP and not wait till later in the month. No telling how long they wait till they expire the subscriber links.

The moral of the story, to those who only get one newsletter (either the 1-free album or 3-free album newsletter), is to sign up for the other newsletter, if you want to max out the freebies that you can get directly from Naxos.

I use Chrome, and the URL that you gave works for me, for some reason.

I keep getting this feeling that Naxos must be connected somehow with the federal government. Reason being, everything is so blasted complicated with them. ha

It is a 3 minute, 31 second piece. Philip Thomson is the pianist. The format is MP3, as are all of these free downloads from classicalMPR.

The URL above is for a search of all MP3's that were daily downloads in the past (and I'm assuming that all of them still can be downloaded--I was able to do so on the ones that I spot checked).

It occurred to me that, while some people might want to download all of those 325 or so pieces, some of you folks might not. ha Here is how to modify the search query in order to find only the free MP3 Mozart, for example, downloads.

I would suggest that you follow the link above. In the search box, add "Mozart." You can do that anywhere before "site:classicalmpr.org". So, an example of the string would be "Mozart download mp3 site:www.classicalmpr.org". I just did that search, and it returned 23 hits, but not all of them were daily downloads. I suppose that you'll just have to manually weed out the ones that aren't what you want.

Oh, BTW, the free downloads that were offered in the Naxos newsletters are all in the higher-quality flac format (they still are). I only found MP3's free on the classicalmpr.org website, however.
