Some romance group and couldn't figure out how to read it. I mean is it just like a endless confusing feed with comments within comments? Really tough to find my way around. Its not laid out like a forum so not sure if I am missing stuff. I guess I just have to keep scrolling down and hope to find where a actual discussion is going on?

I'll see if I can figure it out if I get approved for it. The romance group I found a while back was suppose to be a group for romance readers and all I could see was large book covers of book pimping by authors. I could never find where the discussions were. Didn't look like there were readers there, or really anyone other than endless "buy my book" pictures.
There is no index just a feed of posts from members. Important posts are pinned at the top. So far the group has been self promotion free except for Sarah's books. Make sure notifications are off for the group or you will get them every few seconds. It's a busy group.

The old style codes could be given away. I do not know with the new style of codes.

Thanks. I don't think I was approved, I went and had to search for it all over again as I couldn't find it, or find anything about my status and had to click join again. Like I said, facebook is really confusing to me and trying to find something again that I seen before is almost impossible for me.
Good to know there is no spamming in that group. If I ever get approved.

Not sure where notifications are. Tried looking in settings, but that is just my settings stuff. Don't think my brain is wired for facebook. Its so cluttered and convoluted to me. So many tiny links.

eta:, looks like I was just approved. I can already say this will be a time suck reading through all the posts about all the precious.

There is nothing I love more than historical romances, especially the older ones with epic storylines and epic love and substance.

Hard on wallet and also, I know there will be some I will want to read and they won't be available. I already a few posts like that. I can't read paper books anymore, especially older ones. It always drives me nuts now when a book is not out in ebook format. Spoiled we are now.
Crazy sauce done the right way is like cat nip.

I started it in 2014 but never finished it. I was reading it when I was stuck at a Red Roof Inn or nightmare hotel I like to think if it. I never got back to it after we moved. Maybe I'll finally get to finish it.

Is there a wishlist option that I'm missing on the Harlequin website? Looking for an easy way to keep track of the books I'm looking to get for free with my rewards.

(If by some chance I'm not as blind as I think and it's just not there, I guess I could make a makeshift list using GR.)

Thanks

These Old Shades is one of my favorites too, especially because it tees up Devil's Cub, which is also one of my favorite Heyer books. I sort of bounce back and forth between which of the two is my favorite. (Although my absolute favorite Heyer title is The Unknown Ajax, which I can reread like once a year and still not be bored...)

It's fun to note some of the differences in the background settings between Shades and Devil's Cub since they are separated in time by quite a few years.

Sadly no. Harlequin used to have a wishlist option but it went away when they redesigned the site. We were just discussing alternative options back on page 90 of this thread (starts with post 1347).

I keep a list in Word. Others use a sticky note Or a wishlist at Amazon.

If you get emails of whatever kind via Facebook, each one explains how to shut that kind off

Took me about three weeks IIRC

These Old Shades was one of the first romances I ever read and got me into my love affair with Georgette Heyer and Georgians/Regencies in general. It's still one of my favorites. You have to be okay with the age difference though.....

Speaking of Regencies, here's a free Regency with some fantasy elements that looks really interesting:

Miss Landon and Aubranael by Charlotte E. English

(sorry - no clickable link. I'm on my iPad and it's giving me some trouble with copying).

I love regency romances. I just DNF one that came out by a very popular author. I no longer care if they are mistoricals but the writing and grammar was really weak and the story lacked depth. I went back and picked up one of her older titles from a few years ago and wow the difference. Strong writing and and it just flowed like a fairy tale. I'm going to read this one. My big question is what happened? Is there any other authors who latest work shows they are losing their ability to tell a good story?
