I did

I travel quite a lot and I've made a scratch on my Old Aura because I didn't had a cover with it.

Édit: my Kobo is shipped but not the cover..

They were sold out by the time I decided to order.
However, I am now looking at this as a possible blessing in disguise.
50 bones is a lot to shell out for a cover, and I almost always wait for aftermarket covers for Kindle(s). So....

Update on my answer: I'll get a Gecko cover once it's available (in a month or so).

Nope.

I used my H2O naked except for a skin from DecalGirl, which I only bought because of three reasons:

1) It added a bit of grip to the back
2) The front of the H2O wasn't a solid color. It was meant to be, but there were clear imperfections.
3) I don't like devices with garish branding, which the Kobo H2O had.

The One doesn't have any of those issues, the back is very well textured to provide a better grip, but not be annoying to touch. The front is a solid color, save for where it's designed not to be (the logo and the light sensor). And the branding is subtle.

I also have pockets big enough to fit the One, though they are jacket pockets.

In short, I am the antithesis of JSWolf.

I don't understand your remark about that "garish branding" on the H2O... It's a black logo on a black bezel (while the One has a dark gray logo on a black bezel)

If the One has one drawback, for me it's too thin.

Used a bday gift card at Target last night to get a simple black cover folio made by Belkin, I posted photos in another thread. I feel confident in reading with it out and about now that it is protected.

I browsed Etsy last night and ended up ordering a custom case for those times I want a bit more personality in my cover

I'll post photos when I receive (probably in 2 weeks)

I have a Gecko cover for my H2O and it is very nice. I still prefer to have an official Kobo covers, I think that Kobo does a great job with their covers even if they are overpriced.

I ordered my Aura One with the official sleep cover from Chapters on August 29. The One was shipped on Sept 1 (I received it on Sept 7), and they said the sleep cover would ship separately on Sept 6. But Sept 6 has now been changed to say "not yet available" with no date estimated for shipping. Looking on both Kobo's and Chapter's websites, the sleep cover info says "available Sept 15" so I'm hoping that's true. I too would like to know when someone actually receives their official sleep cover for the Aura One.

Anything which can be easily seen while one is holding the device is, in my opinion, garish. The One is dark grey on reflective black on the front making it visible but not obvious, and the logo on the back is a slight depression of the material, all in the same color.

The back of the H2O is light grey on black, while the logo on the front is glossy black on matte black.

Basically I felt like the H2O was trying to advertise Kobo, while the One brands the device but doesn't scream at passerby's about it. I get why branding is a thing, but I try my best to eliminate it in my life.

Hmmm... that black on black Kobo logo on the front of the H2O was garish? Or the mid-gray logos on the back which I only see when I take my H20 out of it's cover. By comparison the Rakuten/Kobo logo on the front of my Aura One is more noticeable and the intaglio Rakuten/Kobo logo on the back more noticeable and also annoying when I hold my Aura One left handed without a cover (I tend to swap left and right hands while reading).

Makes me feel old when I realize how the meaning of garish has changed. Reminds me of reading a newspaper account of one set of my multi-great-grandparents wedding where it was described as an awful ceremony while the groom and bride were described as pompous.

Chapters is telling me it won't be in stock until Sept. 15th. So a couple of days for shipping and I hope to have mine on Sept. 19th or 20th. Drat those weekends!

I noticed the H2O logs more than the One, the texture of the logo on the back doesn't bother me. Really I just dislike paying to advertise products. The skin for the H2O solved that issue, and I don't feel it's an issue with the One.

Perhaps garish is a bit strong, but that's how the situation sat with me. I paid for the product, if it's good I'll advertise it, don't force me to advertise it by slapping your logo on it in such a way that it's hard to miss.
