Both the Voyage and the Oasis (and to a lesser extent the new Kobo Aura One) have this issue with the colour gradient from the lights. On some it's fairly minimal, on others quite apparent, and I think the Oasis is more problematic due to the lights being on the side so it makes the gradient appear worse as it goes across the screen and not from top to bottom.
My Voyage looks almost perfect in some lighting conditions, but certainly in the dark I can see that slight colour variation where the screen gets darker and yellowish/brown nearer the top. I think some people are bothered even by the fairly minimal colour shift (I tend not to read in complete darkness because it bothers me, but then I'm fine to have my small lamp on in bed at night). Going by the photo you've posted which is not the worst I've seen, unless you get lucky with your next Oasis, I think you might be sticking with your Paperwhite for a while longer. |

I'm going to post a couple of photos of my current Oasis (still waiting for the new one), both are taken by night (when the colour shifts are glaring), and one is a side by side confrontation with my paper white 3. I love the fact that whit the Kindle I can read without a lamp and, way more important, I don't bother my wife while she's asleep. That's why I'm trying to get a unit whitout the colour shifts problem (besides the fact that I'm spending a lot of money and it is my right to pretend a perfect product). Now I just have to wait the delivery and hope to get a unit with a better screen. I love my Paperwhite, but the Oasis - in my opinion, of course - takes the reading to another level. I love the ergonomics and those physical buttons are a game changer to me (I was waiting for them to come back since the last Kindle before the Touch and the first generation Paperwhite). Overall I would be sad to give back the Oasis but it could be the only choice. |

It looks quite normal to me. By the way, your written English is excellent. (Remember, however, that the word 'English' is always capitalized when it refers to the language or to a nationality.) ![]() |

![]() Anyway, thank you, again! ![]() About the screen issue, in that photo the problem is actually not so easy to look at. I've posted a couple of new ones taken by night and those might be telling you better what I was talking about. But I must say, the more I'm reading on this Oasis, the less is the colour shifts bothering me. In a few hours I'll get my hands on the new one I've ordered and I'll be able to see if it will suits me better. Otherwise I'll stick with this one and with my Paperwhite 3! |

Oddly enough for me at nighttime is when I see none of the color gradient on my Oasis. Its totally even in bed. I use it at light at 8 and a side lamp. Then I have no cones, no shift, nothing. But if I sit in the living room at night, different lighting there on the sofa, I notice the cones and shift if I turn the light on too high. Too high being over 11 on light. Since my light never goes above 11, day or night, I just never see the things I know are there. Its why I kept it. If its not there in my reading situation, it doesn't exist for me.
I just wish I could actually read in bed like others. I fall asleep to fast and can't remember many pages I read the next morning. ![]() |

Btw, my wife decided she wants an Oasis as well, and she doesn't see any colour shifts on mine, or at least she's not bothered by, so, we thought that if the one she is going to get is shift free, then she will give it to me. We just have to wait and see until monday. Yesterday I received the one I was waiting for, but it was even worst than the one I have right now so I have already sent it back. |
