What a coindicence! Did you order the cover?

I paid with Visa and IIRC, the contract for merchants specifies that the item not be charged until it is shipping. You can prequalify, but not actually charge the item. Maybe the terms are different in Canada. Mine was, of course, charged the day of the order.

Hello,

We have received your request for assistance with your order from Rakuten Kobo.

Your order (********) is currently in process. You will receive an automated email with your tracking information once it’s shipped.

Please allow 7 to 10 business days for delivery.

I am marking this ticket as closed. If you have any further questions or concerns, please reply back to this email and it will reopen the ticket."

Funny how they mark these tickets as closed but don't actually do anything or really provide an answer!

Guess I will wait and see..

Regards

No, I didn't order the cover.

Also, the tracking number was provided in response to the open support ticket, not an automated shipment notification.

Another thing to note is what shipping time they mentioned in your confirmation email.

Mine says it will ship in 7-10 business days. From Sept. 2nd, that puts me at Sept. 13th-16th.

So, if I don't get a shipped noticed by the 17th, then I can worry.

I think they are noting that your 7-10 days is not yet up.

I know we live in a world were we Amazon Prime and every ships instantly, but sometimes we just need to be patient.

Perhaps, but I did pay for shipping and more importantly, 8 days have passed since placing my order.

Do you need a Kobo account in order to use Kobo readers.
I don't plan on buying anything more from this company, not after this fiasco.
If I ever get this thing I plan on using it for sideload books only.

I hate to say but anyone who has followed this forum in the past should have seen that Kobo and H/W orders have never been smooth; there always have been issues on seeing orders that have been placed, and receiving tracking info among others.

No email from Kobo yet. However I can see from Fedex that my package has shipped. For delivery next week. Kobo has never been an organized company which is why I stopped buying books from them several years ago. I do have apprehensions about finally buying a Kobo reader and what the experience will be like. My ultimate frustration is that my shipment is arriving a week later than others who preordered after me.

Nope. But to set up the reader you do have to open an account. I think there are ways around it. But once setup u can download however you want use whatever you want,, and never have to buy from kobo for books if you so choose. The book buying is quite painless.. And the hardware is really quite nice. It's just some things are well not sure how to say it, are just strange.. I think though in the grande scheme of things it's just that we the consumer want what we want instantly and damn anyone and anything that gets in our way!

Regards

Jack

wow
"chat" actually worked for you
never got a response other than "searching" with leaving the window up for almost an hour

more good news (for me anyway - and on my birthday)
after finding out a signature was required for delivery I found that FedEx allows electronic signature since I wouldn't be home tomorrow - cool
then received an additional notification from FedEx stating delivery would be today instead of tomorrow!

I have to say, I love Kobo readers despite some minor faults. I prefer their flexibility over the Kindle. However, the quality of service versus Amazon is appalling. They should really consider that Kindle devices are not so different that customers won't use service as their basis of choice.

Still waiting for some response from Kobo on my order.
