Yes. And unfortunately Kobo has always been notoriously bad at sending shipping/tracking emails, but it usually shows up unexpectedly when/where it should.

I'm finding it a little disturbing that I have an order number "confirmed" yet no way of checking the status of my order on their site.
My only other device that I ordered direct from Kobo was the original Aura (HD) and that has never shown up in the order history. The eBook store and device ordering seem to be completely separate, so hardware does not show up in there. And they don't seem to have a system to see Hardware orders online.

Yes I noticed that as well. Which is why I created this thread. I found the usefulness of customer service rather ungratifying and really can not understand why you can not get a tracking update from them. I'm waiting on several callbacks from the next level.. I am not very hopeful on this occurring and even worse I paid for the shipping thinking it would help expedite it!

I've contacted customer service several times and each time was informed they will have to forward the inquiry to another department because they can't "see" non-book orders. The last email I received from this other department stated the order would ship on the 5th and a tracking number would be emailed upon shipment. My follow ups haven't garnered a response. If I don't get a tracking number in the next two hours, I'm filing a dispute with PayPal for non-delivery. I have all email and chat correspondence. I ordered my H20 from Chapters with email updates and prompt delivery. I was foolish for disregarding numerous reports of horrible customer service and unavailable order status.

The key to ordering directly from Kobo is patience. It will all work out okay if you have patience.

I did this before three years ago and it was fine.

It's the lack of information on Kobo's part, the big snub that really bugs me.
If they would just tell me something, anything. Like it won't ship until Sep 15th, 16th, 17th... I would be fine with that.

If you noticed the purchase email you got it said from Rakuten Kobo eReader Store.

When you buy an ebook it is from "Kobo." I suspect that the "eReader Store" is a different entity from the "Kobo Books" website. That is why Kobo CS can't help, they don't have access to the Rakuten sales. Is it bad CS? Yes. But I can testify from my previous experience that it will work out okay.

The only really problematic post I have seen is one person, whose item got stuck because they thought the address was a PO box.

My guess would be, if it isn't already shipped, then it may not be until the 15th. It seems like they ran out of the first batch, since the Rakutan website now says "Available Sept. 15th" and even Chapters is saying will ship in 1-2 weeks.

Eaxactly. I just want to know. Never was one for paitiance. When the. Wife said she was pregnant I went out and adopted it was easier that way! Just couldn't wait 9 months. (Just kidding, no kids here ). But I still don't have patience. I know, I know I'm not a doctor.

The order confirmation email is from "Rakuten Kobo eReader Store," at least according to the sender name.

In that email it states:
Quote:
In the meantime, should you have any questions about your purchase, or require further assistance, please visit kobo.com/help for other contact options and support tools. Do not reply to this e-mail.
However, the hyperlink takes you to Kobo's ebook store.
This somehow feels a little shady

Oh, and if it is delivered to my doorstep, the package gets stolen, how would I ever know?

I noticed that too Nightgoat.. Seems to me it's a pyramid scheme the ones who got in first are reaping rewards while the schmuks like us are left dumbfounded..

Call and say you're thinking of demanding your money back since there is no proof of shipment.

ordered on the 30th - no information other than the order confirmation shortly thereafter
nothing
was hoping to get it set up and books loaded this weekend
will call today and see if I can get any confirmation whether it is shipped or not - if not will cancel the order and try to explain what "pre-order" generally means out in the real world (not that the poor soul answering the phone actually cares but...)
