How to avoid Aura One ebook sync?

When first setting up the Aura One, how can the wifi connection be allowed to update the device but NOT add all of the kobo.com ebooks?

I suggest setting it up with the Kobo Desktop App for better control.

In your Kobo account you can see your purchased books in your library. Underneath the picture of the book is 3 dots - click on those and then choose 'Archive' from the dropdown. You have to do this for each book. This will stop the books being downloaded onto your Kobo but still allow you to re-read them in the future, by reversing the process and putting them back in the Library.

Willa, thanks but I have W-A-Y too many ebooks to even contemplate doing that.

Has anyone tried setting up a new kobo.com account with a different email address...which, naturally, would have no ebooks? Can anyone see a problem with this approach for syncing the device but not loading any books?

I'd say do what I did: set up the device, and turn off the auto sync feature asap and then delete any books that might have been downloaded already (there's a simple button for that).

There should be a 'select all' button in there!

Willa, the only option with <select all> is delete. For archiving, there is no <select all> option to be found.

S, so you're saying the device will be allowed to sync itself then you can tell when the ebooks begin to sync and immediately turn off wifi???

I might try that if my approach of using an alternative email address (which has no ebooks) won't work for some reason.

The Aura ONE now lacks the option to hide the ebooks that you didn't download so it's a very relevant question. I only found out after the 90 or so ebooks were added to my library (although only 5 downloaded and the rest were added as a download link). I deleted them on the Aura ONE from my Kobo account, thereby moving them to the archive (after another sync) like Willa stated.

There's no 'select all' option on the Kobo site unfortunately so it's doing them one by one or making a new Kobo account if you don't want to reorganize all your ebooks in your account. You'll of course have to download the ebooks you do want to read on the Aura ONE and sideload them, so there's that.

If no one sees a problem, I believe I'll create a new Kobo account that has no ebooks in the library and do the device sync through this new account.

No, I just turned on wifi, let the device sync, but before it could finish, I had turned off the auto-sync feature. Then I removed all books it had already synced and removed the associated tiles from the start screen.

If I turn on the wifi (turned off normally, I don't really need it except to update firmware), it won't sync at all.

That would certainly work. Or if you already have a Google account, you can sign in with that. That's what I use on my Kobos.
