I've added `Freedom to advanced fonts control` to the patches in post #7, I know some of youwill be waiting for that one.

The code modified by this patch has changed a fair bit, but it is hard to tell if that is because it functions differently or is just because of different compiler settings. This is the patch I understand the least, I am really just blindly updating from earlier versions and hoping it will still work. We've been lucky so far, I hope it continues.

The warning about using this patch for Japanese locales or books might be too strong, it probably just affects which font is used by default for Japanese books.

Many thanks, though I'll wait for the tested step by step version. FYI, I understood from a former exchange that the KBJ-Tsukumin Pr6N RB and KBJ-UDKakugo Pr6N M had disappeared from later built-in font lists, but they have reappeared on the One.

If no-one else has done it before then, I'll be happy to test this patch when my Aura One arrives. Unfortunately it looks like UK orders won't be delivered for another couple of weeks.

I just applied the Freedom to advanced fonts control patch on my Glo HD and it seems to work. The right border of the font drop-down list to the left of the Advanced items link isn't rendered though so it looks like a rectangle with three sides, but the functionality for everything works as expected, as far as I can tell.

Hi GeoffR, is it possible to have the `Custom page refresh options` and the `Custom Sleep/Power-off timeouts` patches?
Thank you, as usual for your work

However, i tried some GeoffR's patches for my new Kobo Aura One.

What works:
Custom left & right margins
Custom font sizes
Search in Library by default
Freedom to advanced fonts control
Custom footer (page number text)
Fix three KePub fullScreenReading bugs
KePub fixed font sharpness

What doesn't work:
My 10 line spacing values (i think we should need 15 lines)

I didn't try the others

Hey sorry, so How do I patch my Aura One? Most interested in getting rid of that enormous footer at the bottom... do I just download the stuff in the sticky on the front page?

Halp!

Edit: Sorry, just went through the thread, apparently it's a little more difficult this time around? Just those page footers are incredibly annoying!!! Just tried to install the 3.913948384 whatever patch and the Aura One firmware but it didn't work... Go away horrible enormous footer! So just to clarify - it doesn't work? Very confused... Yes I am an annoying noob I know

Cheers to all you l337 haxx0rz

An easier thing to try would be to use something like EditPad Lite to edit the .kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf file to add FullScreenReading=true to the [FeatureSettings] section (you may have to create it if the section doesn't exist):

Code:
[FeatureSettings]
FullScreenReading=true
After that (you may have to reboot), under Settings->Reading Settings, there should now be a checkbox labelled "Show header and footer" that you can uncheck. Once done, books should use up the entire screen. It certainly works for kepubs, although I don't know if it works with regular epubs since I don't use those. No patching required!

I think it would be better to use Notepad++ (if you use Windows) as I can say it's very good.

You're the best! I did try thsi before however, and doesn't it also get rid of the page numbers? That annoys me, as I'd love the page numbers... I'll give it a go but I remember something irking me a little bit... Thanks again
Edit: Yep, got rid of page numbers... and the titles! Grrr.... thanks though! Much better for the time being.

I've added the `Custom page refresh options ...`, `Disable reading footer` and `Custom reading footer style` patches to the attachment in post #7.

Can anyone with an Aura One tell me what options show on the "Refresh pages every" menu in the Reading settings? Does it look like this?

Thanks, there is probably nothing I can do about how the drop-down list displays unfortunately.

I was wrong about the ReadingFooter CSS strings being compressed, they moved from libnickel.so.1.0.0 to nickel, but are still plain text.

Thanks. Can you describe what happened with the line spacing slider when this patch was applied? If the 10 values patch doesn't work then it is likely that the 15 values one won't either.

We're still working on the patches, I'll create a new thread with instructions for patching once it is done, but it is a bit more difficult this time because it was so long since the last firmware update there have been more changes than usual and I am out of practice, and also because I don't have the firmware on my Glo to test and there is a completely new device to learn about.

If you haven't used the patches previously you are better to wait until those familiar with the process have tested them and we figure out what is going to work and what won't.

Could someone with an Aura One open this test epub: margintest.epub and take a screenshot of the first page with the margin slider set to minimum? Use normal reading mode, not full-screen.

That should allow us to see the exact size of the footer and built-in epub top margin.

GeoffR, first of all the "Refresh pages every" menu in the Reading settings looks like the photo you have posted (in the Kobo Aura One).
Talking about the line spacing patch, i'll try to explain but i am afraid that my English is poor. However, the Kobo Aura One has 15 line spacing values by default; I activated the 10 line spacing values patch, and only a few values worked, while other values were the same before the patch.
I hope i was clear; however i think that the only way to have this patch is to create it for 15 line spacing values
