I've opened a new thread (complaints), thank you two for the answers, this seems useful, will look into the bluetooth thingie since it seems less cumbersome than the dongle. Would still prefer to have an e-reader with audio jack & also disappointed in Amazon for their attitude so I will still look everywhere else first before them.

Most Readers don't have an audio jack. It's not just Amazon.

As for the bluetooth on the basic Kindle, forget it. It's just not all that good and neither is the device.

I disagree that it is a good value since Amazon has not made a light cover for it and nobody else has (that I know of).

I like the basic kindles so they are good for me. They might be horrible for someone else.
