I noticed that there is a bug in option sync and update (Synchronisation et mise a jour)
Automatic synchronization remains active, I can't turn off this option.

Last night, I charged it 100%, read 3 hours Wi-Fi off, brightness 4%, comfort light off, battery had fallen 85%. Put it to sleep mode for night, and this morning the battery was dead.

I went to check, and yes, the sync was on. Which would mean that it is a software problem, not a battery problem, and changing my device won't work as long as Fnac Paris is still on the same batch. But as it only seems to happen to us French early users, it looks like bad batch, which doesn't make sense for software...

I unchecked the automatic sync, put the One to sleep, and when I opened it it was back on. Idem with turning it off, then on. VERY ANNOYING.

I'll try to leave the Wi-Fi on and see whether the battery leaks less, but that can only be a temporary solution.

I have a question to all owners of a One WITHOUT a battery problem: could you check the exact version of the 4.0.7523, and give it to me if it is different? And tell me which country it comes from?

Mine is c213e8a341, 2/09/2016.

That is the way it displays on the higher resolution screens.

Does the Aura One still display the Continue Reading / Manage device screen when the USB cable is attached? I looked through the manual and saw no mention of that step.

Same here in Canada. Before the firmware upgrade, (and in my case a factory reset) I was able to keep auto-synch turned off, but it never worked. It tried to synch all day, draining my battery. Now that auto-synch won't stay checked, my device stopped trying to synch all the time, so my battery seems to be ok.

Same firmware with no drain in Canada. I can turn the auto sync on and off no problem.

A couple of questions:
- when you say auto-sync is turning back on, do you mean the checkbox in the settings menu or that it is still showing as syncing on the sync tile on the homescreen and in the menu? If it's showing as still syncing in the menu powering the device OFF (not just sleep) and back on and see if that stops the sync. There has been some issues with sync getting stuck "on" and not being cancelable requiring turning off and on again in beta but that should be fixed.
- is everyone having the issue using a FRENCH localization of the firmware (it seems to be primarily a French problem)?

Ahh, that looks like it was an "info" tile to describe Overdrive that will disappear after you look at it (like the one that appears after you update firmware).

The device only checks for firmware updates when a sync is done. If you don't want to upgrade, don't sync. But, unless Kobo find major bug they have to fix quickly, the next update isn't going to happen soon. My guess is a 4.1 release to all devices in a month or so.

For the patches you are talking about, they don't have to be removed before updating. The best way to remove those patches is to reinstall the firmware. Installing an upgrade will do the same thing.

I patched both the H2O and the Glo HD, which is why the fonts (default editor, looks like Georgia) are thicker there than in the One.

Completely off-topic: but what skin do you have on the H2O? I love it!

I think it was Elegy at Decalgirl, matt. I'm glad it is not necessary anymore to put a skin on the front to avoid slipping and fingermarks, since the shipping costs to Europe make it expensive, but I liked having what was meant for the back of the device to stick on the front of the sleepcover (I go for the official covers and they are all black). This was my favorite of those I bought: neutral enough on the front of the device to not distract from the book, and a beautiful front for the sleepcover to distinguish it from my other devices.

Thank you for the information on patches - that was worrying me.

As for the sync, my problem is the device turns it back on every time I uncheck the auto sync. Hopefully the next upgrade will solve that, since I think it is the reason my device still bleeds some when sleeping.
