Thursday's - Word of the Week

Since Fridays are taken, every Thursday someone will post one uncommon word on this thread. (The first one to post gets to choose the word)

Everyone who participates must post a sentence to this thread using that word.

This will be a great vocabulary builder, don't you agree?

The word for Thursday, January 29th, 2009 is prorogue.

The whole point of the exercise is to look up the meaning, if you don't know it, then post a sentence using it.

I'm going to put in a new word, since the front page of CNN.com shows that a snowy volcano in Alaska is about to abrupt.

Because this volcano is snow-topped, expect to see some lahars during this eruption. Which basically means, if you're anywhere near this volcano, you better haul some ass.

Good one, and I see that the rules have already been broken regarding the use of this thread. I wouldn't expect less on MR.

BTW, isn't there already a thread somewhere about unusual words or phrases?

Sadly, the Paris apéros have been prorogued at the request of the management of La Trottinette after a particularly colourful discussion on the subject of DRM came to the attention of the French Secret Service, Hachette and the International Court of Justice.

(Whatdya mean this isn't the "first sentences thread"....)

this happened after i had a few too many drinks and stood up on the bar to demand that the use of DRM be prorogued indefinitely !
