X-link to the DRM-free thread for a new StoryBundle:
The Truly Epic Fantasy Bundle 2016 curated by Star Wars tie-in novelist Kevin J. Anderson is actually a mix of traditionally epic and historical fantasy. This contains new and backlist offerings reprinted by his WordFire Press imprint. There are backlist novels by Michael A. Stackpole and Kristine Kathryn Rusch and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Allen Drury (one of his historical novels, and not an actual fantasy, according to ISFDB), and newly-written stuff by Brandon Sanderson, Tracy Hickman, and an anthology of short stories including contributions by well-known authors. |

For those who already acquired the former Humble Bundle, and did not read it all yet, they should be aware that the two bundle have three books in common:
The usual retail value of each book is about $6 (except $3 for the Sanderson book)., provided the prices I see are the same as those you see on the same pages, since I am in non-anglophone Europe. The bundle includes some historical fiction. This seems to be a season thing, since Phoenix Pick is also offering a bundle (for $9 at least) that includes 5 historical fictions by L. Sprague de Camp, together with the novel "Lest Darkness Falls" available for free. |

Pam Uphoff draws attention
http://pamuphoff.livejournal.com/388516.html Third Annual Indie Author Labor Day Sale Whether you are eating pumpkin spice everything or counting the days until Halloween, as the nights cool, you’re going to want to check out the latest sales in Sci Fi, Fantasy and Mystery from your favorite indies. Lots of goodies, but a quick glance shows one that I can mention here within the rules. Empire of the One (Wine of the Gods Book 14) by Pam Uphoff reduced to $0.99 or 99p Which I have bought, read and thoroughly recommend They'd been attacked through a dimensional gate. Now they've located the attackers' world and it's time for Xen Wolfson to do some hands-on spying. Can he and his fellow spies learn enough to stop an all out war? As "Endi Dewulfe" he infiltrates the High Oner society from the bottom. Also has horses. Here's something interesting I came across: Islamicates: Volume I Science Fiction Anthology of Short Stories inspired by Muslim Cultures. It's a completely free collection of twelve short stories, and available in pretty much any format you could want. I found this from an article on io9, and I'll quote part of their article since there isn't a good synopsis on the website:

For those who enjoyed the previous R. A. MacAvoy deals today open road is selling all three books of The Damiano Trilogy (as one book/bundle) for $1.99 in the US. Considering that each individual book costs more than this it's quite a deal
The Damiano Trilogy: Damiano, Damiano's Lute, and Raphael R. A. MacAvoy https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NVZPCTK https://store.kobobooks.com/en-us/eb...amiano-trilogy An alternate-history fantasy of faith and wizardry set during the Italian Renaissance from the author of Tea with the Black Dragon. Discover three novels of magic—light and dark—from a winner of the John W. Campbell and Philip K. Dick awards. In Damiano, our hero is Damiano Dalstrego, a wizard’s son, an alchemist, and the heir to dark magics. But he is also an innocent, a young scholar and musician befriended by the Archangel Raphael, who instructs him in the lute. To save his beloved city from war, Damiano leaves his cloistered life and sets out on a pilgrimage, seeking the aid of a powerful sorceress as he walks the narrow path between light and shadow, accompanied only by his talking dog. But his road is filled with betrayal, disillusionment, and death . . . In Damiano’s Lute, shattered by the demonic fury of his dark powers, Damiano has forsaken his magical heritage to live as a mortal man. With the guidance of the Archangel Raphael, the chidings of a brash young rogue, and the memory of a beautiful pagan witch, he journeys across a plague-ridden French countryside in search of peace. But the Father of Lies reaches out once again . . . In Raphael, weakened by his contact with mortals, the Archangel Raphael falls prey to Lucifer, who strips him of his angelic powers. Sold in the Moorish slave markets, confused and humbled by his sudden humanity, Raphael finds his only solace in the friendship of a Berber woman—and the spiritual guardianship of his former pupil Damiano Delstrego. Now available in one volume, this epic of demons, dragons, romance, and heroic adventure is a saga you will never forget. |
