Seeing this is a vent and rant thread....Microsoft you suck!

I'm in the middle of paying something important and I get a pop up at 7:22pm your computer will restart.

No problem it's 7:09 pm. A minute later as I'm typing the CC info the computer goes into restart!!!!

It's now installing updates and I'd like to get this done so I can do other stuff. They need to get us some options here.

Go to your control panel and turn off automatic updates.
I know doesn't help at the moment.

You can't. It's Windows 10.

I got it paid but I hate they just restart my computer whenever they want.

I put a little bit or no salt on french fries, but I often use pepper.

I also often make a 50/50 mix of Sriracha sauce (the strongest version) and mayonnaise. Sometimes I use the Sriracha sauce pure.

Huuaa. That comment about dutch sweets wen't over the hill there. I was referring to the licorice, but in the way that I love the dutch salty ones so much, that I always get 'tummy trouble' when in Holland. And:

So, I get exactly that. When I started eating, I thought I'd die right on the spot. I told my host: "I think this mayonaise is over the hill." She tasted it, and thought it was perfectly fine.

Since I am danish, I think you are referring to 'Remulade'. It is some sort of mayo, but with sliced cucumbers and cauliflower. Very tasty with fries.
When i want the kids happy, I make cutlet with fries, and 'remulade' mountains.

Ooh yeah. They really messed up the anniversary update.

Any problems with Kobo devices on USB? That's not the only problem. There are LOADS of problems; one of them being that a setup consisting of a solid state drive + hard drive is (on some computers) handled incorrectly; at random times, the hard disk will be bombarded by requests (for some unknown reason), which puts the drive at 100% usage. And I mean, 100%, to the max. As soon as you do anything that accesses the hard drive, that process will hang.

That's the one problem I have issues with at the moment.

The computer has been completely unusable because of this, for the last two weeks or so, since I installed the anniversary update. They even have thread on their community forum where they post updates, and request users to send logs and system configurations.

Yesterday, I did receive a fairly huge cumulative update; it took 15 minutes to install, on a new laptop. It's a bit more than a year old, running the fastest mobile CPU available at the time of buying it (Januari 2016), and it runs the operating system from an SSD. If such a system takes 15 minutes to install an update, it's monstrously large.

The update docs do state that it fixes "reliability and compatibility" in a lot of areas, so I hope this update fixes that hard disk problem.

They need to get us some options here.

They have been taking options and control *out* of Windows since Windows 8 in many area's, updates being one of them.

Gonna have to agree to disagree here. The first time I had mayo on French Fries was in Belgium (who claim they should be called Belgian Fries, as they invented them...), and I was converted forever. I now always have mayo on my fries (or, to be correct, chips )

Well, the Belgian ("Vlaamse friet") and Dutch ones ("Hollandse patat") are very thick most of the time. I dislike that; I like the thin French fries better.

And a serious rant is that I've just received a dead on arrival article. It's one of two table supports that I wanted to convert into a very heavy speaker stands by bolting a 30x40x2.7cm beech board on top of it.

(This stand is going to hold a speaker that's 28cm wide, 35 deep, and 40 high, and it weighs in at 30 pounds. While most normal speaker stands are rated to hold this box, I just don't trust the low weight and their often very small bases and top plates to hold a box of this size and weight.)

Well, what can be broken about that, you ask? It has four feet. One of them is broken off, and fell clattering out of the box when I unpacked the thing.

Hey, I'm officially a licensed bartender. All it took was about an hour to run through an online course completing a multiple choice quiz at the end (just my opinion one that a chimpanzee could get a passing score on. I happen to be reading Are We Smart Enough to Know How Smart Animals Are? by Frans de Waal at the moment). Printed out the PDF file of certified passing score and then a trip to City Hall to get my official license. I did learn something I did not know. In Wisconsin not only can under drinking age people be allowed in a bar, but they can be served alcohol as long as they are accompanied by a legal age parent or spouse.

Not that I'm planning [yet another] career change though. A group of locals, including me, purchased and are trying to get back into operation what was a favorite pub. To keep costs down we are trying to use volunteers for everything possible. Some times I love living in a small laid back and very connected town.
