I'm in California. I went to Chapters and used PayPal check-out just to see what the final damage would be and I got $266 (no cover). Is that right? That's Canadian dollars I hope.

Got an email from Kobo Direct Orders dept.:

Your order (...) is currently in process. You will receive an automated email with your tracking information once it’s shipped. Shipping is scheduled for september 5th, the release date of the Kobo Aura ONE device is on sept 6th

Please allow 7 to 10 business days for delivery.
Previously told they would ship on the 6th.

Is this from your order confirmation email or from a recent one that you just got? Thanks in advance!

Well this has been an active thread

I just got an email from Kobo..... they gave me a tracking number! Interestingly enough the Kobo One when purchased from Kobo directly (kobo.com) ships from China, when I ordered my H2O (and eventually harassed Kobo enough for them to give me a tracking number only to have the device arrive later that day) it shipped from Canada.

Estimated delivery is the 8th. I'd rather have had it on the 6th, but it's not like two days will hurt.

this is the behaviour we see on Apple pre orders. They pay the OEM factory to handle the logistics of pre-orders. It's fun watching the planes leave China with your electronics.

Just placed my order!!!! I did it with Kobo.com, that was how I ordered the original Kobo Aura, and I had no problems with that (once I got it ordered). Went smoothly this time, once I stopped trying to use Chrome to place my order and switched to Firefox.

I'm looking forward to my new eReader!

I believe I took a hit on the delivery date (I'm guessing end of September) but Kobo just pissed me off with their lack of information on their site. I can't believe the company that makes the device makes you wait when a retailer is already selling it.

bizarre...

How did you cancel? Just saw that it is cheaper through Chapters and want to order that way instead.

It was a royal pain in the &SS. I had to start a chat session with customer service and request a cancel.

be aware that Chapters/Indigo is a better deal BUT they are out of stock. my order is stuck on "awaiting shipment" with a reception date of the 27th of September....

Good to know.

The Kobo website said something about "In stock" Sept. 15. Not sure if that means I'll be waiting until then, or not. I guess I'll see on Tuesday.
