Thank you, I'll try as soon as the running download is done, and report.

BTW I forgot to say that there is a "Dahlia user guide placeholder file" in the One, a one page PDF file which a placeholder for the French User Guide.

I think this could explain my battery drain. Wifi was off, but was still trying to sync. There was sync error, possibly stuck in an endless attempt.

Ive turned auto sync off (wifi off too). Battery remained at 82% after two hours in sleep. Will see how the battery goes today.

My advice for Li-Ion batteries: Don't worry about them. Use them when you need to, charge them when you can. There are things you can do to extend their life, but they basically mean you aren't using the battery. And are impractical for a device like an ereader.

More importantly, there are a few things that will destroy them... The most important thing you mustn't do with Li-ion batteries is let them run dry. What you can do is let them drain to about 20% and then charge them again. Not because the battery needs it, but because the software needs to be calibrated...

And that's another one of the bits of advice that's not really right.

Li-Ion batteries have no real problem with running them down to zero. The problem is if you leave them there. If you leave them long enough, they will self-discharge until they get to a point that recharging them is dangerous.

And if the point is to calibrate the meter, you have to discharge the battery completely. Then recharge it completely. And repeat two or three times.

You are right that it is better not to completely discharge Li-Ion batteries. But, it is also better not to completely fill them. A suggestion is to keep them between 30% and 70% or 20% and 80%. But, doing that is generally impractical, and probably won't extend the battery life enough to make the hassle worth it.

I read that you can just keep topping them off, without too much problem, but letting them run completely dry is bad (though, I doubt you can let them run completely dry with any electrical device, as the device will probably require more than the battery can deliver at one point, without the battery being flat). So, if the device says the battery is empty doesn't mean the battery is really empty. It just doesn't have enough juice in it anymore to power up your device. Naturally, when you leave that device for an extended time off the charger, it'll finally copletely drain.

I just charge all devices I have once every so many months, to keep the battery from slowly emptying itself completely.

It worked - at least the ... Cancelled disappeared. Just now I'm downloading books in batches, so it is only when I'll start reading again that I'll see how it goes. Thank you very much.

Any idea when the new F/W will be available?

EDIT: I just realized that the "gérer les téléchargements" parameter menu says I have two Pocket articles, while I have only one in my Pocket list. I remember now that I was also syncing to delete several Pocket articles from the Pocket site, and keep just the one I do see. Should I turn on the Wi-Fi and sync again? Go to the downloads parameters page again and take off everything? Uncheck the "delete the Pocket articles from the reader when you archive them"? On one hand I afraid to break it again (it's only 19 Mo after all), on the other I'd like to be able to sync Pocket with no worry.

Yes, there is no problem with partial recharging.

Running them to zero by the meter isn't really a problem. Letting them go further is.

Not really. Kobo seem to release them near the end of the week, so maybe today. But, I think this will be for Monday which is the official release day.

Pocket articles should be synced whenever you open the article list. Turn on WiFi and open the list should be enough. When it does this, it doesn't sync the books or look for a firmware update.

That made me realize that it was completely unnecessary to keep my Sony PRS-T2 "in case" I ever wanted to read a German book with a good German-English dictionary. No way would I ever again be able to read on it, or give it. I've already given all my old devices when they were still considered decent, and it was difficult: nobody around me is interested in an old way superseded ereader. So I'll recycle it and its cover.

Off topic: Anybody in my area (Paris) would be interested in a broken aura HD + official cover for pieces before I recycle it too? Pm me.

When I ordered my H2O from Chapters, I had to call them and request the tracking number because it was not listed on the site because it was sent out as a guest. But when I called, I had no issue getting the tracking number.

Weird, I set it to sleep after 5min and poweroff after 15, but it never powered off. I'll reboot it and see how it goes.

Anyway: great screen, the button in the back is better than on top (H2O), easy to hold in one hand (even though I do have big hands).
I happen to love reading with very small font sizes, and it's a delight with this one. At the smallest size the device decides on its own to split the text into 2 columns, I guess for readability. I haven't found a way to switch that behavior off. But the smallest size that also stays in 1 column puts a very comfortable wall of text before my eyes.
I guess that's also a way to save battery: fewer page turns...

Small annoyance for now: the device's edges around the screen (not in the back) seem sharper than H2O's were, which is not as easy on the fingers in some positions.

As far as I know, with the standard compile options for RMSDK, there is no way to disable the two column display when you reduce the font size to allow the screen width to reach 61.5em.
