Hi, I am thinking of trying your PRSCustomizer but was wondering if I get it on my 505 then decide that I don't like it is there a way to take it off? Also how does this affect any future Sony reader updates.

	Thanks in advance, CC |

				Pirate How to?

I've tried several things, but can't seem to get the pirate "theme" on my reader properly. Is there a trick to saving the PNG image/s. I've tried the user files option, and tried replacing the kBookAssets and the kBookIcon files with the pirate PNG files. It must be easier than this. Any advice.

Update...to change icons, I just right-clicked (Windows) the icon PNG, save as, and point to user file in the customizer program. Then select user file when building the SD card files to flash with. I still cannot figure out how to use the larger/framing PNG file (with the pirate ship on it). My apologies if this has been asked and answered before - I did go through most of this thread, but I didn't see it. (I may have gone past it though.)

Is it possible, once you have the "sdcard" folder, to simply extract the contents of Sony's own EXE firmware updater, copy the files in the "sdcard" folder over top of existing files in the Sony updater folder structure, re-create the executable archive, and then simply run it as you would the official firmware without having to worry about booting from an SD card? (I haven't yet compared the actual files / folder structure, so the PRSCustomizer may well be so different as to make this impossible.) |

I don't think so, as I think that when I looked at it, I found that the Sony exe was using a checksum to be sure that the firmware image it was using wasn't modified!

I ran PRSCustomizer and when I pressed the customize button, I got:

An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down. Never mind - I downloaded again, extracted again, and it worked OK this time. Sigh. Last edited by TedPark; 02-09-2009 at 10:38 PM. |

Hard to say Mick, its worked for thousands, if you go by the download count. I'd try re-downloading and be very specific in following directions, particularly in copying the folder to your SD card (don't copy the folder, copy the contents). Some problems have been from a bad card, others from errors in creating the files ON the SD card.
