I don't know what's going on with the Goodkind books, but books 2, 3 and 5 are free at B&N right now. 1 and 4 were free earlier, but aren't now. Books 2 and 5 are currently not free at Amazon. None are free at Kobo.

B&N:

Temple of the Winds (#4) - Amazon

Fingers crossed, it works for you. I know there are a LOT of posts on that thread, but I would suggest at least skimming it. Some people can't get NookStudy or Nook for PC to work, but for some reason, I'm thinking they're using a Mac OS or a newer version of Windows. I almost never buy from B&N because they removed the download option - but it will change from "almost" to truly "never" if both of these apps stop working.

There are some comments about having an older APK for the Nook Android app, but I keep forgetting to get the details for that to see what's on my phone. I believe I stopped updating it when the issue first came up, but I can't remember if I stopped in time.

It did! Nook for PC downloaded on my Win10 machine without a hitch. The hardest bit was figuring out the DRM part (which was quite easy when I actually stopped to read the instructions ). I haven't messed around with my plugins in a LONG while - everything was so confusing at first!

If you have Windows 8.1 or 10, I think it's easier to use the Windows Store Nook app. I've been having issues with needing to log out of the Nook for PC program and logging back in just to see newly purchased books. It's pretty easy to find the Nook app's epub files.

I picked up the newly free Goodkind books, even though I never finished Wizard's First Rule, and a lot of people tell me that as the series gets longer, his Ayn Rand inspired philosophy gets more excessive.
