I want the Overdriive support badly. But I simply can't afford an Aura One and my H2O is working great. So I'll hope for a firmware update and in the meantime continue to muddle through with ADE in wine.

If they bring in Overdrive to the firmware for the Aura HD, I might finally have to bother to connect to wifi after all these years and update! My firmware is pretty darn old. I figure if it ain't broke....
Wonder if library books would be synched across devices.... That would be cool! Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk |

I'll give my Aura 6'' to my wife and get the One. So far, I got Kobo Touch, Mini, Glo, Aura and tried Glo HD. The only thing I'm not too sure, it's the weight. I went to Indigo at Eaton Center in Toronto Thursday to see if they had demo units but they haven't

The overdrive features is killer. All other features aside, I really like that feature. It doesn't hurt that it's waterproof/protected either. Size is fine, I'm flexible there. No buttons...I do prefer buttons...there's always got to be some give and take!

I was discussing this with my other half this weekend, and at the end knew I'd have to buy it. I mean, that name! It's the One! I'd say it's a briliant piece of marketting, that

I would really like any portable screen that size, or larger, to have a non-breakable substrata. It gets too easy to apply too much torque, to a large screen, that gets moved around.

@Ken I just saw on AliExpress that the Aura HD Einkscreen is 49€. So will I invest in getting my Aura HD working again or will I forget about it and think about buying the Aura One whilst reading on the Aura H2O...? Questionssss. I do remember that the substrata thingie is a rather strong argument. I do wonder what the other Ereader producers will do the coming months. Would be nice to have the bendable ebook reader, but now with a good resolution!
What I am wondering about is whether that 1GHz is enough to power that resolution with some speed. I always have been rather irritated by the faster 6" devices which use the same core as the larger 6.8" devices. After using them for a while, the H2O just seems sluggish. @ottdmk In Holland the ebook lending still uses a webpage. So downloading via the browser seems a viable option. If Overdrive also has a webpage interface, doesn't that mean that you already can download ebooks, too? Last edited by Markismus; 08-23-2016 at 08:06 PM. |

All good points. There is some hope for larger screens with plastic substrata. I don't know if there are any faster ereader SOC planed though.

So if they start producing in October, when would it be reasonable to see those screens with plastic substrate in ereaders and more importantly what kind of not problems will they introduce?
It seems for now that there is no longer a good reason to choose glass over plastic as they suggest that both screens are Carta in resolution, contrast and speed. Yup, I think I am going to skip 7.8" in favour of dreaming about 13.3" screens! |

One thing I learned from the computer/gadget business the last 20 years: never think I'll skip this one because there'll be something better just over the hills, because there will always be something better just over the hills. And you'll never buy anything ![]() But I just made the case for me buying the One a bit harder, as I just bought a new GPU for my pc... Maybe I'll have to wait a month before I bring it up again ![]() |

Overdrive support sounds nice, though having to sync with Kobo doesn't. I always get rid of the Sync tile and then never connect. |
