It really depends on what you want and how you use it. I have both the Glo HD and the Aura H2O. There doesn't seem to be that much difference in size, but the Glo HD fits in my jacket pocket and the Aura H2O doesn't. That makes the Glo HD practical for my commute where I can put it in my pocked when walking between the train and he bus. The Aura H2O is to big for this, and the Aura One far to big.

For the size difference, thee are some photos posted in one of the threads of the devices next to each other to allow the comparison.

We need some REAL reviews from e-reader oriented folks. No, not goodereader, either.

Nate posted a few things to the digital reader, though no actual review as of yet from him.

Actually the area of the screen is (7.8/6)^2 = 1.69 larger. So it is really much bigger. (Assuming the same aspect ratio for the two devices)

Done. (Only moderators and editors can change thread titles.)

I haven't seen a mention of the difference in the waterproofing.

The Aura One has a waterproof nano-coating on the electronics. There's no seal on the USB port, and if water gets in, it will do no harm (in the short term).

The H2O has a waterproof enclosure, and a plug that must be in the USB port to complete the seal. If water does get inside the enclosure, it will cause immediate problems.

The Aura One waterproofing sounds like the better bet to me.

Actually the One is 19.51x13.85 cm. This comes out to 7.68x5.45 in.
Its area is 106.38 sq in

The Glo HD is 15.7x11.5 cm. This comes out to 6.18x4.53 in.
Its area is 71.08 sq in

The ratio of the two areas is 1.50 i.e. the One has 50% more screen area.

However, most people have been judging size by will it fit in their pocket. This is determined mostly by width. The One's screen is less than 1" wider plus reduction in bezel width reduces that even more.

No. Your measurements and calculations are wrong. From the Kobo specs:

Aura One: 7.8” HD Carta E Ink touchscreen, 1872 x 1404 resolution 300 dpi
Kobo Glo HD: 6” HD Carta E Ink touchscreen, 1448 x 1072 resolution 300 pixels per inch

From the specs by calculations:
Aura One screen is 6.24" x 4.68" = 29.2 square inches
Kobo Glo HD screen is 4.83"x3.57" = 17.2 square inches
Ratio (to two decimal places) = 1.69:1

Aura One pixels: 2,628,288
Kobo Glo HD pixels: 1,552,256
Ratio (to two decimal places) is 1.69:1

I can't see where you got your screen measurements and then you calculate incorrect screen areas (a screen that's 7.68x5.45 in. is 41.856 sq in, not 106.38 sq in).

The Aura One has slightly more than 69% more screen area than the Glo HD. Or, if you prefer, the Glo HD has just over 59% of the screen area of the Aura One.

oops -- yeah my area calculationss are a little off -- think I was using cm but labeling it as in.

Thanks for catching that.

The length and width specs I got from Kobo web page. I assumed they were screen spces but maybe they were for whole reader --

I think they are for the whole reader, but that's ok--those are the measurements that *I'm* more interested in. I'm trying to get an idea of how different it will be to hold this vs. the readers that I have now.

Nate posted a side by side of the Kobo H2O and the Kobo One, while the Kobo One is certainly bigger, it isn't by the same percentage as the screens are to each other. Kobo listened to those who wanted both smaller bezels and a larger screen. The result is that some of the room for the larger screen came from the bezel and some from increasing the physical footprint of the Kobo One.

I'm sure percentages can be figured out but the side by side made me feel as though I could comfortably hold the One as I do my H2O
