At 7.8" I think the Aura One is probably aimed at those who read at home with easy access to mains power rather than on-the-go readers.

Battery life entirely depends on the user. You can fit 69% more text on a 7.8" screen compared to standard 6" screens which means fewer page turns and potentially much better battery life. I personally prefer very small top and bottom margins, small line spacing and very low brightness so I'm not really concerned about battery life, but I understand why some people are. |

"The Aura One's 7.8-inch screen allows pages to have nice, wide margins, and the header and footer text provide chapter, page and expiration information without getting in the way." Does this imply that some screen space is lost to header and footer information? Can these be switched off? (My Kindle does have a small footer row but no header).

I assume the 'expiration' info is related to library books but I don't use them so can't comment further.

Not sure what it says about my morality but while I regularly remove DRM from ebooks I purchase, I don't remove DRM from library loans—if I want to keep the ebook, I'll purchase my own copy.

Apprentice Alf states in the FAQ that the tools will not work on library books so you couldn't remove it even if you wanted to.

Does anyone happen to know if it has dictionaries on board? There is nothing in the specs as far as I can see. I don't need it often and the one that was provided with my Aura was shi$$$y anyway but I was able to install a better one which I would do on the Aura one, too. I think this would only be possible when there is a dictionary funtion on the device already. Or am I mistaken? |
