epub (kepub) hyphenation independent of eReader's language setting

Many users read kepub or epub books in more than one language, but the hyphenation is derived from the eReader's language setting. Better solution would be retrieve language from the language metadata of a document.

That is true; but I was trying to reduce the number of times that a user has to manually change the fontsize.

If most of the books work with a particular fontsize then you have a problem when you open an oddball book because the next normal book you open will also have to be adjusted since it doesn;t have a database entry for fontsize.

Are you sure of that? There has been discussion on this and I thought the document language was used. Or maybe I assumed it was as it is used for the dictionary.

I'm not sure if it helps. You will still need to adjust the font for the first new book opened after opening that oddball book. Currently, you are adjusting the font for the first book with no saved font settings after the oddball book. I'm not convinced there is any real difference.

That is true if you open a first time book after an oddball book; but if you open a previously opened book after an oddball book you probably have a problem since the previously opened book doesn't have a database entry so the fontsize is wrong.

If most of your books use the same fontsize then you aren't having to adjust the fontsize and they don't ever get a fontsize saved in the database. The new rule would get that correct fontsize saved in the database.

The answer is not so simple. Kobo uses hyphenation if the hyph_xx_yy.dic is available (xx_yy = CurrentLocale), otherwise use hyphenation from (for me) unknow source. Look at the screenshots. The left one - Czech language was set, the right one - English language was set.

My future firmware request for Kobo is - increase the number of books displayed in library list view mode. Currently only five books per page are displayed in list mode, and going through the pages of a bulky library swiping the screen is a painful process. It often opens some book accidentally, and the whole process has to be repeated again and again.

Similarly, I'd like a way to filter books based on reading status - Unread, Finished, or some percentage read. Speaking of which, it'd be really nice if marking a book unread or finished didn't change its place in the "most recent" sequence...

But to your point, if you have a rough idea where in the list your desired book is, you can touch the "page X of Y" part of the screen to skip to a new page X.

Can't you do some of that already? The Book list lets you filter by All/Reading/Unread/Finished by tapping 'Show:' in the heading.

If you open a book, tapping whatever is in the left side of the bottom bar will take you back to where you opened the book. If this is a list, then you will be returned to the same place in the list. The list does update, so, depending on the sort order and show filter, the book you just opened might not be in the same spot.

Actually I never did notice this feature before. Thanks, Rev. Bob, for the useful tip. This will definitely help me, but I still wish more books could be displayed in the list view. There is enough blank space left on the screen to accommodate.

I have used the 'back' button before, while going through footnotes and main body of books, but never tried to switch between book and library views, will give it a try. Thanks, davidfor, for the useful tip.

In that case, you might want to read my post about the UI standards used in the firmware.

I'll second this one. I'd like to see a compact mode with one line per book and double or triple the number of books listed on the screen now.
