kindle 4 nt screen part frozen at screensaver...what are my options?

my 4th gen non touch kindle's bottom half of the screen is frozen at the screensaver. the rest of it works fine. i tried rebooting it and all the usual troubleshooting, nothing helped. What can i do now? is there a way to set my bottom margin all the way up to the half of the screen or only the right margin when in landscape? i tried formatting an ebook in calibre, but the margins didnt change in the kindle. please help.

It sounds like you have a broken substrate, which means (unfortunately) that the screen is not salvageable.

You should post an image to confirm. (A link to our Posting Guidelines is located at the bottom of the page.)

Yes, please do post a picture of your screen. A broken substrate has a distinctive appearance.

thanks for replying guys. the screen doesnt appear to be damaged it just doesnt respond. will cracking it open do something good?

That's a fractured substrate. You can see the end of the fracture line at the right side of the frozen part.

And BTW, you might want to do as the Dr. suggested at the end of his post and read the picture posting guidelines and shrink yours before he comes back and raps your knuckles
