Yes, some of the "milk oolongs" out there are not at all what they claim to be. I need to order some from Gong Fu -- I've bought from them before and their quality is what they claim.

Meanwhile, drinking a traditional Oolong - Phoenix Mountain Oolong from Peets. Very nice, and one of my favourites.

I will have a large Gong Fu order on my birthday list this year. But I really want a Wii U so I can play the new Zelda game that is coming out because I am just that ridiculous.

What particularly galls me is that the RoT website says that the tea is "unflavored and unscented", which means that they're either lying or don't know what tea tastes like. Either way, I don't want to buy anything else from them.

Right now I'm having some ali shan oolong to remind myself what the good stuff tastes like.

Yes, Difflugia, I agree. Heck, I don't even like the fairly common Jasmine blends, and I've gone off Earl Grey and other bergamot blends as well. But at least in most cases, these are honestly described.

Finishing my morning's fresh squeezed orange juice while I wait for some Murchie's English Breakfast Blend tea to brew. It's going to be a scorcher today, so this will likely be the only hot beverage of the day.

First up, Tea Haus Canadian Breakfast. From the Tea Haus blurb:

My take: Yes, a strong brew, but certainly doesn't need milk. Would be nearly perfect if the Kenya were replaced with something like a basic Keemun. I liked it, and my DW (who uses milk), liked it even more than I did. Brewed at 205F, for 3 minutes. I might try it at 190F to see how it changes, but right now, I'm liking it, though not loving it.

Last tea of the day.

In general, I'm not a fan of tea with flavors in it. My Dad likes Earl Grey, and I'll sometimes have a mug if I'm visiting.

Also, the Asian market occasionally carries canisters of generically labelled "black" tea with some rose petals. It's an interesting change -- not surprisingly, the rose petals add a floral touch to the taste. They carry lots of jasmine tea, which I don't especially like. I've also tried some lichee tea which had very heavy overtones of citrus and pine, and I didn't like that very much, either.

Sparkling water with lemon.

I like floral flavors like jasmine, rose and hibiscus in tea. I also like citrus, but most other fruits are too sweet.
