My local WHSmiths show very little enthusiasm for their Kobo display and there are often missing or broken readers. I have little confidence that they will have them on display soon if at all.

I'm going on holiday on 12 Sept and it will be a beach holiday so I am quite willing to be a bit impulsive and pre-order what will be my first waterproof device. I've always liked Kobos in the past - I have a Touch, Mini and Glo HD (current favourite reader) and have had an Aura HD. True I did get rid of my Aura but that wasn't so much a size issue as an issue with the case and the fact I choose a white one (affects the apparent contrast). And in the end I sold it on ebay and recouped a reasonable percentage of the cost.

So yes I would be taking a risk but to be honest I'm not sure that the issues I finally had with the Aura HD are the kinds of things you would discover after handling it for a few minutes in a store. It took a few weeks of using it every day to realise I wasn't enjoying the experience (I wanted to like it).

I'm going to order the device online, at a store with a good return policy. Then I can just reset the device, package it up and return it if I don't like it.

Does anybody have pictures of the Aura ONE sleep cover? I'm a stickler for that... If I don't like the cover, I'll have to wait for third party ones.

Our local branch's Kobo shelf and table is somewhat forlorn looking as well. Perhaps the prospect of new devices arriving will force them to do something about it?

I hope I don't have to wait until near Christmas to see them

Yes. Those are so perfect that they look like renders. I'd like to know, for example, if the cover will stay shut when closed. Also I dislike stand covers, because they make the cover floppy.

Well, it is a stand cover looking at Kobo's pictures. Where it counts when holding with left hand on cover, right hand on reader it will be floppy. Still possible that it stays shut properly.

Definitely a need for some adjustment. More than a year old, its definitely no longer new. Whether its old enough for you to upgrade is a totally different question, and one that you'll need to come up with some tactics to convince her of that.

Yes I didn't have much luck when looking for the H2O when it was released, there just doesn't seem much interest from WH Smith. My nearest store typified it by moving the Kobo display from its fairly prominent position into an out of the way corner of the store last time I looked. I'll probably just wait until Christmas and try one of the bigger stores in the city centre, but I'm with latepaul on this, I don't hold out much hope there will be any on display.

Argos generally have Kobo devices in stock pretty promptly after release. They were pretty much the first in the UK to stock the H2O when it came out.

Argos don't have any out on display though, so you can't see it in person. AFAIK, John Lewis and Currys might spare a single space to have an ereader on display next to the tablets, but I don't think either sell Kobo's nowadays?

I'd expect it to stay shut properly as after all it is a "sleep cover" with a magnet. It wouldn't be much use if it kept opening!
