Wow finally a new e reader I can look forward to. I've had my trusty Aura HD for almost three years now and nothing has peaked my interest for upgrading. I'm so pleased kobo has gone big again. I was never a fan of the 6 inch format. It's just too cramped and there are too many page turns for my taste.

A whole extra inch compared with the Aura HD! I'm in!

Has anyone tried if the One works with windows 10 AE and USB? Or is there already a universal fix for all Kobos other than using a different O/S?

The people who have an Aura One have a review/demo model. While it will be the same hardware, the firmware they have will not be the release version. And it's likely that Kobo made sure these particular devices would be OK.

And no, Kobo have not released an update to solve this problem. But, I'm confident that no-one getting an Aura one on the day of availability will have this problem.

No. Prices in the US are generally advertised without any taxes. Is I could buy the One locally (which is doubtful) it would add another $16.73 (7.275%) to the price.

But, that is a gamble I am not sure I want to make. If the review pre-release models can do it, that would make me more comfortable in trying something new. If not even them can do it, I will wait until the issue is fixed. I have had no luck with any non Kindle ereader while all my Kindles are still functioning (at least the old unused ones were before the battery charge screen came on, who knows if they are capaple to revive now or not).

Maybe you could try ordering from Chapters Canada when they get them? They're only $250 which is at the same rate as the AU dollar. If you don't need to pay tax as you're from a different country (usually 13%) then that would be a significant savings even if you had to pay for shipping.

I'm not in the market for an ereader that large. I like them small. But I am curious to see it in person too. WHSmith is not that quickest to get stock on display so I'm not expecting them to have one to view until close to Christmas.

The current preview builds of Win10 have fixed the problem, so it should be in next month's Windows patch release.

Depending on exactly how Kobo do the review units, the firmware could be months old. i doubt that is the case this time, but it could be easily be from before the Win10 update release. But, if you are worried, you will know if it doesn't work within an hour of the first real customer receiving an Aura One.
