I suspect they meant the Kobo Forum at MobileRead.

I'd love a picture like JSWolf posted a few pages back, but not the One against a Kindle, but a One against a H2O...
Edit: found one in the Kobo forum, thanks to Nate! Last edited by Sweetpea; 08-18-2016 at 02:31 AM. |

OK, I think I just found my replacement e-Ink reader. Overdrive integration was at the top of my list. I had a brief taste of this perk thru the Sony T1 (gifts for family members)
The size of the Aura One isn't exactly high on my list of wants, but I've been using an HP Stream 7 tablet for my daily reader. Going by the specs, the Kobo will be slightly taller and a bit wider but also lighter and thinner than the Stream. |

Lighter than the H2O and a colour temperature adjustable light? Oh my.
I'm not seeing much in the way uneven lighting on these reviews, despite the size of the ereader - it would be nice to see a few more really concentrating on the lighting quality. |

![]() And I do as well. The 6 inch readers only offered more customization options than the Kindle. The Aura HD was meh, because of its thickness and weird back. The H2O was aaalmooost there... and now in the Aura ONE, I finally think: "This thing could be a *serious* improvement over my KPW1 with regard to reading." (All the other functions such as the store, libraries, Pocket, etc, are of no use to me.) I think I'm going to try this thing. I'm going to look for how to use a Kobo without connecting it to an account. I have an account with hundreds of books in it (bought during the 90% off sales), and I don't want the reader to download them all. Quote:
The one thing I'm hoping is that the lighting works better with less or no ambient light. With the KPW1, I like to use the light to brighten the screen to such a level that it blends in with the ambient light; it's almost impossible to see that it is lit. If there is not enough ambient light, or complete darkness, the screen looks weird though. It looks like two sheets of glass with milk in between, with letters floating in it. Therefore, I always want at least some ambient light. I hope the ONE does better in that regard. |

What you can do is register the Aura One to another email address, skip adding payment details, then sideload everything via Calibre. You can even make up a fictitious email if you want, or set up a new hotmail/Gmail specifically for the Aura.

Does the Aura one come with the same usb port cover that the H2O has or have they found some other way to waterproof (resistance) it? In theory I like the idea but in practice I always find it a bit of a pain to fiddle around with the port cover.

The promotional material says that the USB-port doesn't need to be covered. Don't ask me how they achieved that, tough....

The new Aura One doesn't need the port to be covered to be waterproof - all the electronics are coated with a waterproof nano-coating.

That is how I use my Kobos, I don't download anything direct from Kobo. All the books go into Calibre and get loaded on my devices via Calibre. |

According to the company that provided the tech, the guts were waterproofed with some chemical sealant rather than the case. http://the-digital-reader.com/2016/0...will-cost-230/ Quote:
On Kobo.com, the product listing for the Glo HD already mentions OverDrive integration. I noticed it yesterday. Last edited by Nate the great; 08-19-2016 at 08:24 AM. |
