The published weight of the ONE is only 230g, compared to the leaked weight of 252g.

This thing stands a serious chance of being bought by me. I've been eyeing the Kobo readers for some time because of the extensive font options, but didn't buy one because of the reports of instability of the firmware and problems with rendering books. I wasn't ready to trade stability for more options.
Now, however, this reader provides so much more than the KPW1 I still use: 7.8 inch vs. 6 inch Selectable front light color temparture WAY more font options and spacing options Granted, the Kobo may have some drawbacks (dictionaries not as good, but more languages available, weird Kobo-type KEPUB), but this device makes it hard to keep refusing to try a Kobo. If I can get a cover for it that I like, I'll probably order it somewhere down the road. I'm not going to preorder it, and not buy it at Kobo itself, for that matter. |

The cover is $49, which seems appropriately overpriced. Third party covers will be available... |

The front light of the H2O is very nice. No color shifts, bright spots, or unusual shadows. The rendering is very good. ADE/RMSDK renders ligatures, kerning, and hyphens. |

I don't have a Kindle to compare it against, but my Aura renders text very well and it is very stable. Left-justified text? No problem!

Better answer to be found down in the Kobo forum. I know the answer is there somewhere.

Well, don't go by the nay sayers. We've had some come here saying Kobo is rubbish because they don't know how to treat eInk screens. Anyway, as to kepub, I've never used it. RMSDK works just fine for me.

There are more complete answers in the Kobo forum but common perceptions are:
- faster page turns - more responsive/accurate when selecting text for annotations or small sub-/superscripts - footnotes display as pop-ups Personally I choose standard epubs most of the time unless a book is particularly loaded with footnotes. The main thing to note is that calibre plugins make it easy to choose kepub when you want it or standard epub when you don't. |

Have they fixed the problem of extreme difficulty in selecting small hyperlinks, such as those for footnotes? It was that that caused me to sell my H2O - I just couldn't live with it. 9 times out of 10, trying to select a footnote would turn the page instead.

Well, that's one of the reasons I prefer kepubs: I have no problem calling small hyperlinks with it. Other reasons: I prefer having header/footer - just like a paper book, and I like knowing how long to the next chapter and the end of the book, plus the graph of the length of each chapter (particularly useful at bedtime).
