Font Size Rationalization
The majority of the books I read on my Glo HD appear to all have the same relative font size. This means that I can set the font size they way I like it and it looks correct for all of these books.
However, every so often, I get a book where the font size is significantly smaller. This seems to happen more often with public domain books. If I adjust the font size for one of these books then it screws up the font size for my vast majority of books. I tend to multi-task my reading with several books at a time being read which means that I am having to constantly adjust font size. Is there some way to have the font setting be unique to each book? I guess the other approach is to make some changes in the .CSS of a book to increase the font size. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about epub editing to do this (perhaps someone could post a link to a good tutorial on editing epubs). Is there anything else could do to address this problem? |

You cannot have different settings for each book. The problem is that some books use a smaller size for the body text which is not a good idea. It's best to just use the default font size. But even the BPHs do this.
Your solution is to edit the CSS to change the main font size to the default (as in no specified font size). Then all your books will have the same body font size. You can do this with Calibre's eBook Editor as long as the eBook has no DRM. |

If I adjust mine for a book like that I keep a record in Evernote how many clicks I change. It helps me get it back to normal when I go to the next book knowing how many clicks are needed.

Sorry Jon, you're wrong. You can have different settings for individual books.
When you open a new book, the font settings are read from the configuration file. If you change the settings, they are saved into the configuration file and into the database. If you close and reopen the book, the saved settings from the database are used. If you open a new book, or one that the settings haven't been saved for, the settings are read from the configuration file. When I open a book that has set the font size, after adjusting them settings for the book, I close it and find book with my usual settings. I open that which loads the settings from the database and change the font size up and then down by one. That puts my normal settings back into the configuration file ready for the next new book. Also, if you are a calibre user, you can use my Kobo Utilities plugin to set or remove the font settings for any book on the device. |

I guess the problem is that since most of my books work without changing the font size, the font size for them never get saved to the database. When I adjust font size for one of these "special" books the size gets saved to database and configuration. When I re-open a "normal" book it reads size from configuration since a size was never saved to database.
It looks like it should also save the size (from configuration) to the database when a book is first opened. PS: I did edit the CSS for the normal paragraph style and removed the fontsize statement and that book now is consistent with my large majority of books. Thanks JSWolf. |
