Neither your KOreader problems nor your iptable problems have anything at all to do with this thread.

Use the KOreader thread for KOreader problems.

Start your own thread for your iptable problems.

And yes, iptables has always been there - the Kindles have always run a strong firewall.
So first, check what you are doing that makes you think they are not included in the stock (customer, not factory) firmware release.

Having received permission from Alex to use direct download links, the off-site pastebin index is no longer referenced.

With the use of these new format direct links, we gain another advantage:

Any of the links in the directions my be copied, e-mailed, or bookmarked.

But when used from anywhere but the mobileread web-site, they will take the user directly to the directions in the first post of this thread.

Then all the person has to do is read the directions to find working copies of the link(s) that brought them here.

The old links given in the pastebin index are still working but are expected to be taken out of service within a few days.

Nope, images are still on the same sites.

Before, the request had to go through the mind of the user, who read, then cut & pasted their selection from pastebin index page.

Now, the request click goes through several new sites whose .htaccess file does the cut & paste for the user.

Automation, but automation with a purpose.
It also keeps the directions and the files together.
Too many people showing up here who have never seen our directions because they got the file link from somewhere else.

You can see an example that you create yourself -
Drag any of the links to the bookmark bar of your browser -
Then click your new bookmark -
See what happens now?

Somewhere in central or eastern Europe, probably Russia as the next one.

I tried it.. Really cool!

btw.. the earlier pastebin links were mentioned as "unclickable". But in firefox, I could do a right click on the links and firefox offered to open the link.

But the pastebin index page was off-site, where this site's rules did not apply.

The 'boss' (owner of this site) has recently given approval for the direct links.

I sure hope nobody was relying on that pastebin index page and the addresses for the downgrade files it once had.
Note: "once had"

Because they are all gone.

No more grabbing just OUR files, without a chance to read the OUR directions.

Of course, the files can still be copied and placed somewhere else on the 'net if someone wishes (and people do, the new links have been in-use for bulk downloads).

With worth the effort I mean...less problems for ppl not speaking English that well.
It'll take a bit but doable.(in a reasonable timeframe of course)

Yes, knc1 does very good work.

The big problem we were having was people were getting the downloads without getting all the directions.
